This has nothing to do with photography, I just thought I would sound off about the community in which I live.

I live in a town called Norco, California. Most people have never heard of Norco, which got it's name from North Corona. Geographically Norco is just east of Orange County next to the communities of Corona and Riverside. Norco prides and hails itself as being a "Horse Community". We don't have sidewalks in Norco. We just make a dirt path, put in a few fence posts and call it a horse trail. Some of the horses I've seen on those trails remind me of donkeys spray painted to look like a horse. Something else you see frequently is people dressed in cowboy hats and boots, and no horse to ride.

Over the years there's been a few things occur to bring us some national attention, or errr embarassment.

I didn't know it until a few weeks ago but Walter Knott's first farm was about 4 blocks from where I live. Walter Knott is the founder of Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park. KBF would have been in Norco if Walter could have obtained the water he needed for his farm. Very bad judgement on the water department deprived Walter of getting water, so he did the smart thing. Sold his farm and moved.

About ten years ago we got some great national publicity when some prisoners at the prison broke out. The storyline was 2 murderers escape from minimum security prison while half the town is attending a greased pig contest. Yes the Beverly Hillbillies are alive and living in Norco.

About a year after the prison story we made national news again. A NBC news team couldn't resist to opportunity to visit our Jack-In-The-Box. It seems the male employees had drilled holes into the women's restroom, and NBC busted them prime time tv. So we've got our share of perverts too.

Last year we made national news again. The local golf course sponsered a golf tournament. It was a special tournament with a tent set up near every green. Should you happen to score a birdie, eagle, or hole in one your reward was a visit to the tent where you were greeted by none other than your choice of prostitute. I think the owners of the golf course are still in jail.

Nothing yet this year, but the year is still young.....

(edit for some spelling errors, but not all =)

Maybe you could work up a TV script about the strange goings-on in Orange County ....

The Coan brothers don't live there, do they? Or David Lynch?

Let us know what happens next. If nothing else it sounds like a good book to write, ‘Life in Norco USA.’:) Maybe you could get a picture of something strange?

Garry, please, write some sort of editorial for each challenge or keep this one alive.

The story is delightfully hilarious or hilariously delightful, I'm not sure which. Seriously though, you write very well.

Is your town in the part of California that is going to slide into the ocean?

Man that is the funniest thing I've heard in a while. Now I won't feel so offended the next time I hear a stupid Newfie joke. Thanks for the laugh.
