Forget about 3D. Here is the future. So they say.
//holorama3d.com/

What worries me is that I am quite happy with my old ancient 2D digital camera and photography. Do these rapidly evolving technologies mean that within a few short years challenges here on DPC will mostly be in 3D or Holographic 3D? It would require a change of camera, software, monitor and other peripheral equipment again costing lots of $$$$. Besides I don't feel the need for a change to 3D or Holographic 3D. How do others feel about this rapid emerging photographic technology? Will it largely render 2d Digital photography obsolete in much the same way that the advent of 2D digital photography relegated analog photography to the history books?

Haha! I don't think you need to worry about DPC upgrading anything! :-D

Who's saying what? All I see is a pretty weak slideshow with marketing copy.

I honestly don't know if this is meant to support or refute my post. :-D

As with everything, there will be those that jump on the new gadget bandwagon the minute it's rolled out. And there are those who drag behind or resist, and they're here at DPC.

LOL, it wouldn't be funny if it weren't true!

FWIW, I think it will be fun to watch the advances in 3D imaging and display over the next decade or so. One thing to consider is, if we imagine a 3D image that has the same resolution in X, Y and Z (rather than a 2D image that has only X and Y), the information storage requirements will be thousands of times greater than the 2D image. We're talking about multi-gigabyte still images. While that might seem gargantuan today, it may not seem so bad 10 years from now.

What happens when the number of bytes used to store images on Flickr exceeds the number of subatomic particles in the universe?

On a somewhat related note, check out the video of a 3-D printer at NPR's Science Friday.

Holorama Tm is based on my own discoveries on how the human eye can proses information to calculate volume, out of only 2 points on view.
Different from parallax, were 2 images are in fact taken from 2 different points emulating the separation of the eyes .
Similar to the stereo theories of localization ( binaural), were scientist for many years had repeated the lie that we do interpolation between signals from the 2 ears, negating the monoaural localizations of sound, and Never able to reproduce the full 3 dimensions perceived in real life , by dummy head gadgetry, and HRTF binaural, algorithms.
In fact Stereoscopy is similar on that the scientific community even if maintain an absolute agreement on the stereo failings, it keep announcing that many revolutions in stereo display ( like digital projection, circular polarizing ,flicker and phantom free , etc), will resolve the head aches and car boarding effects.
Carboarding effects can be observed in fact, in real life viewing on binoculars, were no flicker or phantom, or lack of field of focus is present.
However no carboarding or head aches is present in Holograms were the real front of wave of light is recreated.
Holorama Tm , is the answer to all practical and theoretical problems , for photograph and Cg rendering, as well as robotic viewing, and arm manipulation with 3 axis discrimination.
To the ones that want more information, send me a request to my mailing address,Zuccarelli@yahoo.com.
No images are posted yet to avoid, reverse engineering.
A licensing proses is undergoing, with strategic alliances on the different industries.

Gotta love when spammers go on digging expeditions. Sometimes they find dinosaurs.

Is this a question for Marvin the Paranoid Robot?

Might want to take a closer look at this "spammer." He appears to actually be the inventor.

When has that ever stopped us? Don! Grab the torches, there's a village that needs burned.
