Maybe a little smack talk is in order, but first just had to share that one of my nurse's sons went in with a buddy and bought a package of four tickets to three bowl games for $2,000, including the BCS game.

Just sold the BCS tickets yesterday...$12,000.

Something like that just boggles my mind. I've only been immersed in college town life for two years now so I'm not fully aware of the insanity...

Well, those Oregon fans are rabid. One of the great fan bases, actually. Comes from being miles from nowhere. What's Eugene got? Shakespeare and Ducks, that's about it, and a whole lot of flat. Both my nephews are recent Oregon grads, and they live and work together in Seattle, and they have driven down to Eugene for every Ducks home game for the past two years, and they have tickets for the bowl game too...

WHOA!

I have a friend that had 7 season tickets to the Astros the year they went to the World Series. He sold the tickets to all three games (even though only 2 games were played) to a ticket broker. He then went out and paid cash for a Mercedes.

So you all approve of private as well as institutional exploitation of fans?

Eugene is less than ten miles from the McKenzie River; mountains, forests hot springs, a small lake, covered bridge, etc.

The only exploitation that's going to be happening involves Auburn's secondary... :)

Now we can trash talk!

After what Stanford did to V. Tech there's a chance for the Pac-10 to finish 1-2 in the country, with Stanford' only loss to the #1 team ...

Oh, I know this actually. And just a hop over the mountains gets to a spectacular coastline. But I was dealing in exaggeration. What's the opposite of hyperbole, or exaggeration? What do we call it when we downplay something instead of pump it up?

As for Stanford, be aware that both the mother and father of the aforementioned nephews are Stanford people; my sister and my BIL both graduated, he's Stanford Law too, she was in Stanford admin for 30+ years, so right now the family's in utter euphoria :-)
