Pity there is nothing there about any AF improvements. But CR is notoriously unreliable - the only stuff they seem to nail is when we are about 2-3 days away from a product announcement - the rest is pretty much entirely made up.

Also on Canon rumours

"5D Mark III
The same person also touched on the 5D Mark III saying it would be slightly higher megapixel than the current 21mp, and offer an AF system in line with the 7D."

Yup - Canon is usually doing a great job not leaking new gear. I'm more curious as to what replaces the 1DsM3. Rumors; as unreliable they are, says they might be aiming for the medium format market...

I downloaded this image from the Korean site slrclub.com, they're also heavy on the issue.

That image looks fake. There are two right angles to right of the Mark III (beyond the bevel), rounded, at the left end.

True, I did download this, so it must be true. I did it with my own computer. ;-P

Ha!

I can't imagine any update that will warrant trading in the 5DmkII unless the video is very important. Actually, I'm certain I'll be using mine until it dies.

According to Canon (and specs), the 5dm2 is Canons best FF camera for the time being. At least when it comes to image quaity and features. It's obviously not as solid and water resistant as the 1ds though.

Can you link to that for me? Would love to see it, although I quite believe it when it comes to High ISO noise (or lack thereof) the 5Dmk2 is probably still the best out there.

Sorry - just saw your response now.

I only saw it as a third party reference in a review so not too reliable. I've never had a 1Ds nor a 1Dm4 (I have the 1Dm3 but stopped using it after I got the 5dm2 due to the limiting image size and awkward crop factor).

I really don't know about the image quality differences between the 5dm2 and 1Dsm3 since I never owned a 1Ds, but the ISO capabilities alone for me is important and in practical terms almost like converting all your lenses from F4.0's to F1.4's (in terms of available light, NOT DOF). I do believe the 5dm2 has the best Canon sensor available at the moment but could of course be wrong.

Just handled a 5DII at the local shop and I was not impressed by the build quality. My E3 seems a lot tougher and rugged and streamlined, as in button placement. NOT SAYING it's a bad camera, so lay off. ;þ

I had the same impression with it... even with 7D. Somehow something is not right with latest models of Canon!

I don't know anything about the E3 but I agree that the 5dm2 build quality could be better - although maybe not considering the price range. The 1D feels so much better, but it IS also reflected in the price. You get what you pay for.

FWIW, mine takes a beating. I take it to the beach a few times per month, and it's been sprayed and splashed more than once; it's spent more than a few minutes in thunderstorms this month as well. I've only dropped it twice over the last two years. I've been quite happy with the build quality. Ergonomics are personal, it works for me. I've never held or used a 1Dx, so my grass is quite green!

At this point neither, I'm not sure if he might be working an undercover sting. :D
