ok -- I took about 300 photos on a 32gb card. (there were still space for about 1000 images)

I did something stupid and erased the card.

I then took 108 photos.

I want the other photos back.

There have been many threads about recovering files from a card (this is a CF card). It seems like the good programs cost money. What are my chances of getting any of the photos back? Would I be spending $60 just to realize that I can't get the files back since I've written 108 files on the card since then?

Is it worth even trying?

thanks for any help you can give!!

Since you've taken more photos after erasing the card, many of the earlier photos are now overwritten. You may be able to recover some of them, however. Here's a roundup of file recovery software from Maximum PC magazine, many of them are free. Perhaps some can help.

thanks everyone. I tried sandisks recovery program. It looks like I got most of it back. Too late for the challenge, but it's nice to have the pix. :)
