I got this lens for Christmas, a complete and utter surprise! I didn't ask for any camera gear for Christmas. I must have been really good. LOL
Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM
I can't wait to try it out. It's not even listed here on DPC, I'll have to submit a ticket to get it added.
Anyone else get any photography gear for Christmas? |

I'm happy for you, and yes I got loaded up with good new stuff too. That's a very useful zoom range for shooing outside. You will like the IS feature for that lens a lot.
Santa's sled hit a bump over our place, and dropped off a Nikon D7000 kit with the 18-105 VR, and 55-300 VR II glass. I had never used a VR lens in actual shooting situations before, and the ability to hand hold at much lower shutter speeds is causing me to rethink my whole program for shooting.
The 7000 is pretty techy, but I am getting a grip on some of the many new ways to trash a great shooting opportunity by overriding the program modes LOL. It does not talk to my old SB28 flash, so now I have a good excuse to upgrade that at the next buying opportunity.

My girlfriend aka Snaffles, gave me a Kenko extension tube set. Needless to say, I was happy! It works great, with my 100mm macro. I can't wait till I upgrade that lens. L glass and stabilization will be useful.
It was also fun, watching her open her gift. I led her to believe, the box was perfume. So I think she was surprised, seeing a d90 battery grip. I'm more into giving, useful items as gifts. Plus she smells great, so why bother.
I still wonder though, why I got so much deodorant in my stocking?...

| What a great gift. Either you've been good or naughty in a good way... ;) |

For sweet L glass, I'm leaning toward the latter.

Got the 17-40L f4 and two umbrella kits (brolly, speedlight holder and 8' stands).
Now I just need to have some playtime to figure out how to use them! |

Congratulations Karen! I have the non-L version of that lens and while it's a great lens, I'd LOVE to have yours instead! :-)
ETA: I just looked up that lens in the Equipment list and now there are 3 of them listed - maybe someone can delete the other 2 "L" ones
