Run while you still can. The trolls are on their way ; )

honestly though I wouldn't mind it, but the majority of people are tired of seeing wine glasses and water drops because they are so over done on DPC.

But this is the final cure. Guaranteed.

Could we do "wine drops" & "water glasses" for a try ?
12/16/2010 07:40:39 AM · #5
Actually -- I think it's a great idea. I've only tried a water drop for a side challenge, and I've never tried a wine glass. I don't have much interest in trying a wine glass.

However...

When you try something -- honestly put an effort into something you don't care for -- it at least gives you an appreciation for the difficulties involved in such a shot. You may never like the subject, but you have an understanding that you hadn't had previously.

Knowledge is power. :)

I'd be for "wine glass drops", but you might have to break a whole lot of wine glasses before getting a really good shot. And be careful of glass splinters. ;-Þ

might crash the servers with all the 10 votes.

it might challenge some people to come up with a more creative version of a shot that has been "done to death"...

And entrants are prohibited from entering another water drop/wine glass photo for 12 months? I love it.

Cool video. Reminds me of a crazy phenomenon I saw a year ago.

Floating water?

I haven't tried a waterdrop shot for years. It would be fun to set up again and see what luck brings.

Hahahaha. Am I the last to notice that the cover of the 1x.com photo book is a...du du duhhhh...breaking wineglass with colored water pouring into it?

Here they are cliche and hated. Over there they are cooooolll! :)

Perhaps there is a 180 occurring and in a year, the cliche DPC ribbon shot will be a grainy b/w of a blurry figure in a foggy/rainy city/forest. Then the wine glasses will seem unique and original, but they won't be artsy enough to gain broad appeal and score highly.

Whatta glass! Why no drops?

what kind of lense would people suggest for this challenge?

Something similar to my 60 mm macro lense would be great. It's like a newer version of the one IreneM uses for a lot of these types of shots. I'm sorry I don't know what its called for Canon but there should be something like it.

well this sucks... no macro lenses are shared between me and smardaz.... :( how about anything else? something besides a macro lense...?
