I have a question to try to back up my concerns with an alleged modeling agency in AZ that a friend's daughter seems to be interested in.

The agency is under the heading of AZ Modeling Agency I belive and her name is Jill Valdisar. She has a site here Jill Valdisar

If any one has any real info on this place, other than what I already can decide just by looking at it, please let me know so that I can forward it on to her.

Thanks

Im not sure about this one, on their page they claim to have just been published in a bondage magazine..... I know I would not want my daughter dealing with a modeling agency that does that type of photography

Well the advice I gave them was to ignore these people completely and the parnets agree. However the daughter, 21, blonde, beautiful and oh so naive, thinks this is the greatest thing in the world to happen to her.

What I am looking for is something concrete that I can give her to say...look, this is not something you want to get involved in and this is why...hopefully she will listen to facts rather than just her concerned parents and good ole Uncle Rick

Wow, what kind of modeling is she planning to do?

This doesn't appear to be an agency. Their studio is an empty townhouse/condo and the web site is poorly done. From what I can see you have reason to be concerned.

As an aside: Doesn't the picture on the front page and contact page look remarkably like the Scottsdale girl that starred in "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance" that Fox studios aired awhile back?

Anyway, I'd suggest the same as below, check the BBB. I'd also google the name and see what comes up.

Unfortunately I haven't heard anything about her (and I'm in AZ) so I don't know what to tell you. But on appearances alone, I would stay away.

Edit: Why would she, as an agency, feel it's important to have her '#'s' on her photography web site (i.e. 34c, height, weight etc.). I understand she's a model as well as photographer, but....

Also, Googling her name brings up a bunch of undesirable (to a parent anyway) sites.

Thanks Tina

I did a Google search and came up with mostly fetish & bondage realted photo shoots she has done...

I pointed her mom to the results and even doubly highlighted the fact that in the modeling sites she is linked to she is listed under entertainment rather than modeling.

Hopefully I can get my point across to her...

If your friend's daughter is legitmate model material other agencies would also be interested in her. She could contact a few reputable local outfits to see if she gets a nibble.

That's what I'd suggest. Rather then tell her to stay away from this one, point her in the direction of a legit agency.

Also,, even though it's been done,, posing for fetish/adult shoots can have a detrimental affect on your future in the "normal" legit world too.

I was recently asked to do photo's to be used as a backdrop for an adult film. The director wants to give it a fim noire artsty feel. While I was flattered, in an odd sort of way, to be asked. I've declined because I don't want it to hurt any future commercial work I may get.

I've done fetish shoots for friends, so it's not that I'm a prude. I just think your friends daughter should look at all sides, hard with a teen, and try and look towards the future.

I am in no way an Agency !! I never ever claimed to be one. I am a the insperation behind a Models Alliance where models can be friends and learn about photography and modeling by helping each other. Nothing more nothing less.

Thank you for your time .

Not to be negative...

But if the girl is 21, Then why would her parents have a say in such a thing?

Rick,

Is it just this particular agency that you and the young lady's parents don't want her to get involved in or are you all interested in finding her an agency or does she just want to model and you're trying to keep her out of all "adult oriented stuff until she can build a decent portfolio of work upon which she can be judged (or maybe something else entirely).

While it is not a modeling agency, if your friend's daughter is interested in modeling she could find work from OneModelPlace.com. I've been a member there almost as long as I've been a member here and it is a top notch arena in which to find models or photographers to work with. This won't get her representation but she can at least build up a portfolio of images and even find paying work from this site. You can follow the link in my signature below.

Hi Kevin

Thanks for the info and I will pass that along to them.

The real reason for the origianl question was becasue of the way the whole the thing came about with this person approaching our friend's daughter. Our freinds asked me to check into it and I did, I even asked on here know that there are some folks from Arizona on here. What I was looking for was for some info from someone else other thatn us or her parents that this "modeling agency" is not really a legitimate place for her to get her start. Honestly, the whole thing stank about about as much as the pimps that hang out and troll the bus stops for teenage runaways.

I did pass along coolhar's info about her contacting agencies herself to see what their opinion was as well.

I have read up a bit on OneModelPlace and saw some of your shots that you posted recently and was very impressed. I will definitely pass that along to them.

And to outofreachx - I understand what you are saying about her being of age, but there have been some things that happened to her in the not so distant past that don't need to be revisited for here, and also as long as she lives in her parents house, it's their rules.
