It does explain why other companies have such a hard time competing with Apple's products. Matching hardware specifications do not necessarily lead to a equal experience. An elegant user interface and seamless integration of services are huge stumbling blocks for competitors. Computer operating systems, MP3 players, smartphones and tablet computers all existed before Apple's versions, and each with limited success. Like it or not, Steve Jobs paved the road to mass consumer acceptance in each case and left other companies to imitate them or fail.

Actually fail... All there have been over a dozen iPhone killers and the Mighty Droid has not passed it in sales. Reports my butt as reports are including all the free droids in their two for one deals. Everyone loves to bash iPhones and I am NOT an apple fan but they do put together a better phone for now. Everyone loves to talk about the higher MP camera (even tho the iPhone picture is better). Everyone likes to say they both run apps (even tho all my favorite apps are on the iPhone only. Everyone love to say how much ATT sux but I have not had any problems in the last year, before that it was every 10th call and I am in NY. Every Droid user loves to bash iPhones and iPhone users usually don't give a crap. The best part is when they try to argue with me and I beat Droid users down, the only thing they have left is the word "OPEN SOURCE" ant that is awesome as it allows 30% of the Droid free apps to steal info and sell it to retailers to do what they please. Some go as far as turning on the mic for a short time, Stealing GPS info to give you adds and companys your location info, and a few have even turned on the camera. Banking apps were not on droid for a long time due to security concerns that were not with iPhones. I support 15 Droids for non teckie people and it is a full time job as the 3 iPhones in my family never need any help what so ever. The reason why the iPhone is better is
1. Polished user interface that is easy for "ANYONE" to understand and more user friendly.
2. The app review makes sure that apps are not going to mess up the OS or steal your info (EVIL)
3. The apps are easier to make and publish and have a higher purchase rate on iOS there for Devs write more apps for iOS.

The part that I like the best is that I never meet people who have an iPhone and went to Droid.... Yet about 80% of techies that get into arguments with me about my iPhone, get one before their contract is up and leave a superior network for ATT. That last part is not tounge in cheek, if you are going to an inferior network and are happy, there had better be a good reason.

I have Jailbroken about 2 dozen phones, I have rooted about 4 dozen phones. My entire family is teckies and one brother has 6 droids because he gets them for free and supports about 200, my other brother supports about 200 droids and 5 iPhones and owns an iPhone because we have this discussion. The droid is the greatest phone only second to my iPhone 4.

the Canon vs Nikon, Boeing vs Airbus, PC vs Mac just got another player.... Droid vs iPhone....
