I agree with this list
10-22
24-105
100-400
3 lenses giving you near continuous cover from 10-400 mm - that should cover darn near all eventualities. |

If your talking about three lenses with the 7D (a great camera) but with its 1.6x crop I would put money into the low MM side and let the crop factor extend my upper mm's. So I would try to stay with L lens at f/2.8.
EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM
EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM
That would get you an range of 25.6mm - 320mm all at f/2.8 for low light situations and you would have IS stabilization for on the long end.

The range you have proposed is actually smaller than the one I proposed ?
My effective range was 16 - 640 in 3 lenses - granted it's not f2.8 - but I would rather adjust the iso and have the range :- ) |

pshh... i thought the major flaw in your setup was the missing 23mm focal length for those times that 22 or 24 just wont do! ;) |

Agreed - this is what I carry (earlier versions of them anyway) and the 85mm 1.2 is the lens I use most.

when i decided to go at this full time, this is exactly what Jason suggested to me. i took his advice and never regretted it.
i've added plenty of stuff to my bag over the years, and if i look at what i use the most statistically, my top three lenses are:
Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM
and i would say they've all done pretty well for me, in the real world and at dpc ;-)
