You haven't mentioned any interest in the video but if that's important to you then it's good to know that the 5D gives you manual control of the audio unlike the 7D and since the 5D sensor is larger it gives you more of that cinematic look (i.e. shallower depth of field).

Whaaaa? Seeing that even the mounting system is different - Nikon mounts clockwise and Canon widdershins - there is just no frickin way that could ever happen. Or if it has actually happened (in which case Ryan would be all over it like a dirty shirt, and this info would be going viral) then that means the big C is weakening and really wants to be Nikon.

I think he means the D700:))

Yeah.. haha :P

Ohhh, OK! Well that further justifies my decision to upgrade to a D700, once I start to outshoot the D90...which will take a while...:-)

Yes and no. All DX lenses will mount and function, unlike EFS lenses on a 5D. However, they will provide lower resolution images because the projected image is smaller on the sensor.
In most cases, older lenses work. Here's a link from everybody's favorite Ken Rockwell listing lens compatibility. You can probably find another one as well. Note that models of differing vintage may provide varied levels of functionality.

ETA: The grip for the D700 is a very nice, solid grip. Initially I got one for my D300 for extended battery life on trips and the added FPS. Since mounting it though, I only take it off if weight is a consideration, and prefer it mounted by a good margin. It balances the camera better and fits my hand much better. It's also very durable, being made of magnesium.
