Sometimes, I think some DPC members have developed a harsh opinion of me. I'm not always the persona perceived by others.
A few months ago, into my life came a young person in need of help. She was a stranger, although her in-laws are good friends. I'm not sure why I was thrust into the position of needed volunteer. It just happened. I had the skills needed to make a simple website work. Computer skills honed from years of digital photography and my images, in general, were the ingredients needed to publicize her desperate need.
I'm not soliciting ANYTHING. I simply want to share my sense of accomplishment emerging from this altruistic effort to help this 27-year old young woman, with late stage Lyme Disease symptoms, regain her life. rebekahsteers.org
Our mountain village community is conducting a "silent auction" fundraiser for her tomorrow night. Be sure to read some of her blogs. She is a gifted writer. She is headed to book publication one day in the future, if she survives the aggressive treatment immediately ahead of her. I'm honored to add some of my favorite images to her blog pages. Please add hope for her improved health to your prayers.
Thanks!

I must admit that I definitely developed an early harsh opinion of you. But as of late, that opinion has drastically changed. I have noticed your posts being more helpful and thoughtful. And the knee jerk reactions seem to have cut down significantly. (Obviously it's just my opinion that your reactions were knee jerk and non-helpful). I had actually been tossing around the idea of PMing you with this info, but this thread gives me the perfect opportunity to tell you that I'm pleasantly surprised in public :)
Also, great job with your volunteer work. That's a wonderful thing you are doing for her. |

I know how devastating Lyme disease can be as we have a friend who just recently returned home after spending a month in the hospital with it as well as tick borne Meningitis and Encephalitis. He will have to go through months of rehab to walk well again and regain complete use of his hands. Terrible disease. :-( The community certainly is rallying together to help Rebekah and the auction should raise lots of money. I wish you the best of luck with your efforts to help raise money for Rebekah's treatment. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.
PS: Love your photography! |

Way to go, Richard. I will add Rebekah to my prayers. It's an awesome thing helping those in need.
ps: I have a harsh opinion of everyone, so to be fair, that won't change. :P |

My first impression of you was quite negative..
So what though, I'm sure MANY people have had the same reaction to me..
I've come to respect you and your work a great deal, and would love to meet up one day and compare notes :)
Good on you for your charity work here, and let's hope she does well. |

Add me to the list of those who once thought Richard was a complete jerk. Now I count him among my friends. I'm not sure who's mellowed the most, between the two of us, but he sure as heck can shoot, can't he? Apparently from the heart as well :-)
Bear Hug for Richard.
