Everybody presumably knows of Joel Meyerowitz, for his street photographs and for his 9/11 site photographs. An observation of his from Photo-wisdom : Master Photographers on Their Art â¦
âPhotography ⦠stills time in such a way that if you stand in front of it and immerse yourself in the experience it describes, you can lose yourself in there. I look for that kind of opportunity, where the photographer has been generous enough in how they have been entranced in their moment that I have an opportunity to stand in their shoes.â
and later â¦
âA lot of people put their intellectual concerns first with photography, but I think it is a discipline that is at first a visceral one ⦠Astonish me! This is what I want from photography. It can be with the most ordinary thing and yet change my consciousness.â

Good quotes. At some level, I think most people experience photography this way, whether they're able to articulate it or not. |

He's one of my heroes. One of the reasons I'm on Cape Cod, really; because of his work underscoring for me the magnificent light that informs this place.
