i am a model for a photographer that specializes in underwater shoots... its an extremely interesting and difficult medium to work in, with some AMAZING results!

Underwater modeling is so so hard, and to photograph as well, the ones with the red that shoot lasted 6 hours and I got 3 usable shots. I can not even imagine how hard it is to do in teh sea with currents and moving little models!!!

JulietNN, after looking at each of your images, I ran out of superlatives. Ethereal, magical, glorious. Maybe a thesaurus would help.
:))
Meanwhile, you are a brave woman to try this difficult form and your images show you succeeded beautifully.

I'm going to have to try my hand at this one of these days. But the logistics are dogging me.

@ disassociation

that photographer (mark alberich) uses a fancy underwater housing now, but when i first started shooting with him (about 2004?) he was using one of these:

//www.storus.com/detail.php?product=dry-pouch

and he only ever lost one camera, and that was because he had to drop it to the bottom and go rescue a model who had managed to get herself thoroughly tangled up... he told me it is the only time he was ever close to vomiting in the pool! (it was a D1, i think... i would have wept if i had been there!) he has used them in the ocean also, although he said he was less comfortable about it there.

if you are determined and willing to take a bit of risk, it is certainly doable without making a very large investment.

Ah, yes. I've seen these. Glorified Ziplog baggies! I'd be SO scared to try it. I'll just have to wait until I have another camera, "just in case".

In terms of shooting under water, did he hold his breath as well, or did he have a snorkel or something? His images are really dark too. Are they in a pool? Lake?

PS - thanks for introducing me to his work.
