Today I noticed that my printer is scratching the photo paper as it prints. I have an HP Photosmart 7550. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks, as usual.

I have the Canon i900d but:
Is the paper the same weight?
Stored flat (so it does not curve)?
Canon has a setting in the software for that adjusts the printer settings for when scratches appear on prints not sure about HP?
Maybe dust/dirt or paper fiber has collected on the printer heads?
Try to wipe them off?

I have the same printer, HP Photo 7550, and have never had an issue with it in any regards. Contrary to most, I like HP over Epson for reliability and love the HP 7550.

June,
There must be some foreign material on the print cartridge or in the print path. Take the cartridges out, wipe the business end carefully with a soft cloth and replace them.
I to have HP printers and wouldn't touch any other but, to be honest, I am prejudiced having worked for HP for 31 years before retiring three years ago.

Juneisy, my HP PhotoSmart 1000 will scratch/mark very heavy/stiff photo paper. No problem with lighter weight stock. |
