Suppose you took a picture of the pyramids for magazine cover, and moved them slightly to improve the composition.

I saw a TV documentary a while ago following some American tourists on a trip to the UK. They were particularly keen on the brochure, showing Stonehenge in front of a beautiful sunset and the ocean..

Let's just say they weren't too amused when they visited Stonehenge and found out it's actually nowhere near the ocean.

You need to acquire a Texan sense of scale - then realise that everywhere in the UK is near the 'ocean'

Or an American sense of history - everything can be bought and put in the desert.

No, but you can make one.

What's what the American tourists were upset about - not getting what they saw in the brochure.

I am very surprised in my Portraits entry. I shot it for two reasons, one for the person in the photo going into a magazine and for the challenge as well - kinda two birds with one stone. In the comments i am getting, there warm and great, but the votting is only a 6.26 with a ton of people obviously voting in the 4's and 5's. I have never worked so hard in a studio step up, lighting was the most complicated i've ever done, and personally i have never totally loved my work more. To customer has already printed a 30x40 in canvas and is getting it framed for their studio; and everyone that has seen it including my bud's at the local camera house were all basically just "-----sweet shot". I really thought i had a winner for DPC too, and again I was way off base. I think you have to shoot specifically for DPC which will probably go against the task at hand professionally. Though i will admit that the shot looks better printed than on the screen, its not a night and day difference - I really don't understand the DPC field sometimes?

As Great Britain is an island, technically, every photo has the sea in the background :P

Why don't we just buy Great Britain and put it in Texas? That way Tony and George can get together really easily.

Good idea Harvey, then maybe the prices of my cigars would come down :)

You can have Tony for free, I'll even pay for shipping.

I left space on my shot for the last mag. challenge and I think it lowered the score. I am not sure if I will choose that route this go around.

I don't think that text should be added, but, space SHOULD be left for the text that goes on the cover. That is a major consideration when shooting magazine covers.

Lemme think about that for a minute......

OK, it's a deal, but only if you guys take George in trade. And since you're paying the shipping we'll throw in Dick C.
