The upgrade thing didn't seem to work at all online, but just ordering the Full version eventually SEEMED to work without any elements reference at all--got the $299 price. Will see, I suppose, when the discs arrive.... |
Isn't it a download? Ever since I got the macbook pro I was considering getting the MAC version of CS so I just went ahead with the order. Receipt shows the original price with a $400 discount. Downloaded it and it installed just fine.
Check out your account area on the Adobe site (order history). Click the download link.

I am sooooo bummed. I followed the link while at work and was able to add it to my cart for $299. Was so afraid that they would need my serial number for Elements which is on my home computer so I didn't check out. Went home to do the exact same thing and I get the message that the access code has already been used and now the price is $699. I had it within reach and and slipped away. I am so depressed I was so close I could taste it. Oh well, keep trying to save the money. I will eventually get myself the full version. |

I requested a cd instead of a download. For pricey software, I am kind of old school, I guess. |

I could never, not once, get the upgrade thing to work online. Oddly, after several attempts, trying different things, just selecting the full version put the right price in my cart. So you might keep trying. I found that signing up for an adobe account FIRST, then starting from the link below worked. Before that, when I had it in my cart, I could not complete the checkout process--the 'create a new account" step during the checkout process just hung up. |

I will take your suggestion and try it again when I get home. I will keep my fingers crossed. |

hmmm... I went to the link again, now that I have ordered, and I got the same "code has already been used" message. So, I dunno if clearing cookies would work, but instead, a direct phone call as noted below should work. They would be able to tell you had not completed the order..... |

Something else to check is that the shopping cart you created from the work computer is empty. If not, that could be why Adobe thinks the code has already been used.
You may have to complete the order from the computer you first used the link from.

I just burn a CD for backup. The download is always available on the Adobe site as well. (subject to their backup and retention policy/period which I think is pretty long anyway).

Ok I started this thread and still have not pulled the trigger on upgrading to CS5 from Elements. I need a bit of help.
I currently use a combo of Lightroom 3 and PSE8. I use PSE8 for 3 main things; when I want to use layers, when I want to sharpen (I find it a bit better than Lightroom's sharpening)and when I want to use my Nik Suite of products as they seem to work better in PSE's layers than in Lighroom.
So the question is what will be the benefits I will see by moving from Elements 8 to CS5? Is it worth $300?
Thanks for the help.

Layer masks. Curves. Smart objects. Smart filters. Content-Aware Fill. Channel Mixer. Pretty freakin' good HDR. I think those are all CS5-only.
Is ACR in Elements 8? If it is, it's not the latest version (6.1).

Have any of you who have upgraded to CS5 taken advantage of CS Review? I currently work with Adobe on CS Review, and wanted to see if users were aware that this service came with a free year's subscription if you own CS5. Please let me know if you have any questions. |

Well, not quite sure what it is, actually. But I get frequent nagging emails to remind me that it is there, without explaining the use, value, or what it is, or why I should care. I assumed from the name of it that Adobe is asking me to review the product, like all those "please review your recent purchase" emails from Amazon. |

Hey chromeydome, if you\'re still looking for info on CS Review, it is an online service that focuses on the creative review process. It allows an author to share documents with collaborators in an effort to gather real-time feedback on their work. Since CS Review is an online service, it is easily accessible by most all web browsers, and those viewing the session, aren't required to have CS5. You can even use other CS5 programs like Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator to act on edits that have been made to you work. If you want more info on CS review, please feel free to ask! |
