Um, so what ribbon winning entry are you throwing stones at?
11/17/2010 09:22:57 AM · #4
seriously rude. Wonder how you feel if you had a ribbon winner up and someone else posted your animated award

i'd probably find it amusing...

They deserved the ribbon, i'm just making fun of the completely overused subject matter.

Poor taste, sorry. The person had never entered that type of shot before. Just because it's done quite a bit, doesn't mean that someone else can try it, as well.

It doesn't matter ! You don't get the point here. It's wrong to make such a rude statement - or rude joke if that's what you want too call it. A person gos out and shoots their best for a challenge expecting nothing more than a virtual ribbon and maybe a few virtual pats on the back for a job well done and then some jealous whiny ass person has to post a rude remark or suggestion. It's just wrong. This site used to be a lot friendlier and nicer until people started bashing others here for what they chose to shoot, or how they chose to shoot it, or how the interpret a challenge theme. It's getting very annoying.

your right, I'm sorry. I guess sarcasm is going the way of originality.

By the way, good job on creating that .gif animation.

I hear you and agree with you, in the sense that it's wrong and annoying, but I disagree with you that it's getting worse. My experience of DPC goes back nearly 6 years, and I can remember times when the putting-down of clichéd entries was much more overt than it has been lately.

Anyway, I blame the voters, if there's "blame" to be apportioned, not the shooters. I'm all in favor of people experimenting with and perfecting the tried-and-true; I just sometimes wish the more truly original were more often rewarded.

Take that, you jealous whiny ass person!

Good thing the referenced photo did so well and received a bit of humorous fun. Would've really sucked for him had he submitted a crap shot and gotten repeatedly abused in comments like most of us.

Yes. It is the majority of voters who encourage redundancy rather personal growth and experimentation. We need to see beyond a technically pretty image. Take Deb's image for instance, a less common interpretation of a sunset, what a soothing image and use of color.

We are both, aren't we? At least I am.
