After first reading about Gorillapods here a long time ago, I always wanted one, though I found it difficult to find a decent one in South Africa. Finally, when I did get it, I didn't seem to have much use for it, so it just sat around, lonely and neglected. Until today.

The bird in my wildlife entry is one of a pair living in our garden.

A few weeks ago she laid eggs in our garden, and today they hatched. I was struggling to get decent photos through my bedroom window, with the burglar bars getting in the way, and my zoom reach not really being good enough to get anything that showed the babies well. Then I thought of video. The position was such that I could never have used a conventional tripod, but thanks to Gorillapod, I was able to leave the video camera to do its work for a couple of hours unattended. Now I just have to work out how to edit the video down to just the decent bits.

I got one recently for my point & shoot. It's very handy.

The first thing I used it for was to fasten my camera onto the end of a pole at an angle, so I could make a video while riding my bike and holding the camera down along the pavement, or up in the air. I guess you'd call it a 'boom' in the movie biz.

It didn't lose it's grip, though I had the wrist-tether fastened separately just in case. I was riding around all morning like a maniac. Flat parking lot, though.

Nothing beats it for versatility and stylishness...

Art Roflmao this has always been one of my favourites.

As I don't seem to use it as a tripod very often, I really need to learn some of your creativity.

It comes with it's share of curses.

Anywho, I believe it was you who inspired me many years ago...
