i hardly ever see wild animals (other than squirrels and birds etc.) but today, the day after the deadline for the wildlife challenge i see this bobcat:
link
i was able to get within about 30 feet of it. the whole time i was approaching it I was freaking out. I'm surprised it stayed so long.
I don't know if I would have entered the shot anyway as I don't think it was all that good. I had to kick up the iso to get the shutter speed i needed because he was sitting in a rather dark area.
fun nonetheless. |

That's a good photo of a bobcat in the wild. They rarely allow you to see them sitting still in this part of the country, never mind sitting for a portrait stare-down.

Got tons of coyotes roaming around Portland residential areas. Thanks "Mr. Logging Industry". Ran up on my friends lawn. Animals are moving away form there habitats and are being forced into cities more and more.

we live in a mountain community and it really isn't all that uncommon for people to see wildlife up here (just uncommon for me). Actually i do see coyotes quite often. |

Excellent capture. Maybe not a competition winner but what a great moment! |

We see bobcats in our yard 2-3 times a year, and I've never managed to get a good, clear photo of one. I think you were lucky to get that shot. Congrats!
