My wife bought a Sony 70-200 2.8 for her Sony. She bought it used. The box arrived a few days later than expected for priority shipping (about 8 days for about 700 miles). The box also arrived damaged (corner and edge were smashed in). Her a900 was fine, but the lens did not work. The outside (key word here) of the box the lens came in was also damaged. The SSM motor did not work properly. We took pictures and also a video of the lens not working properly and submitted it to the USPS with all the proper paperwork. The insurance claim came back denied because...THE INSIDE OF THE LENS BOX WAS NOT DAMAGED! Which was not true. The inside of the box the lens came in had creases in the same corner where the shipping box was damaged and the outside of the lens box was damaged. I even pointed this out to them (of course it took them about 10 minutes TO FIND IT in a very small post office!). They said the decision was final unless I wanted to resubmit the claim as an appeal. I said no because my wife wants the lens to use for a wedding and we need to get it repaired so she can start using it. So, we sent it off to Precision Camera (via UPS) for repairs (another $300). Of course it's still in repair there and my wife has missed more photo shoots with it to help her prepare for using it at her first wedding (she does have other lenses that she loves and uses phenomenally). Oh well. Just a rant...just needed it off my chest (I usually keep things in perspective, but this was off the wall).
