Recovered a little from the 2 bandit, but still not hitting high on the popular appeal scale. Perhaps I should have dreamed of wine glasses and water drops.

Different tastes, different methods of voting. It has have been discussed before and undoubtedly will be again - 'tis the nature of the beast. But it still works pretty well, I think, for what it is. Voting IS pretty transparent, actually. After the challenge is over, you get that nifty histogram that shows where your votes fell. There's quite a bit you can take away from that. A 2 or 3 here or there can mean that someone is "screw you" voting (and what can you do, really?) or it could mean that someone really hates your subject matter - some people vote on "feel". And as long as they do that consistently, that's fine.
You can also see how people tend to vote by their average vote given. Yours is in the low to mid 4 range which indicates you're probably pretty generous with the 2s and 3s, so I would guess you're pretty hard to impress. And yes, some people are too generous with their 10s, but most people don't complain about that. :-) |

And, this pitiful score is following a rise from 4.8000 after the first 20 votes. That's a very disappointing score to me, considering the caliber of the image. Recently, my images never recover from the beating rec'd from the first 20 voters. My image is a genuine representation of a real dream of mine. My dreams are probably not like your dreams and who's to say my image isn't a good representation of my dream? That said, I don't really care too much, as the image is one of my recent favorites. |

The equivalent of 4 8s brought me up to the 6.14, a 3 helped bring me back down. Love it or hate it entries are fun because anything can happen, but it also makes for a very long week.

They just enjoy watching what happens in these score threads as they pass them out. I do think the tactical voting is usually more of a problem in the open challenges. Past efforts have shown that there is nothing that can be done however. No way of knowing if it is really someone's honest opinion, or if they are are playing games.

That will take awhile to get past.
I'm not quite sure of the voting on this one. It seems like it's been awhile since we've had so many trolls in a challenge. It makes me wonder if people are doubting that these are people's dreams and that people are just trying to do free studies or something. I will not doubt any photo in challenge. I will assume that they are all, in fact, something that someone has dreamed.

I don't think open challenges are worse. In fact I think there are a lot of members in the member challenges that are the biggest offenders when it comes to tactical voting. That's just how I perceive it though and others will have their own opinions. |

It was a little harder to judge this one. I had a hard time giving out bad scores as a result. Just because its not my dream doesn't mean its not some one's dream. Found myself judging more on technicals than the idea. The highest scores I gave were both technically good and their dream was something I could relate to. I guess this challenge will be a little subjective that way. |

I'm looking at it as "Convey a real or potential dream". Besides, it does not say it must be a sleeping dream. What about hopes and wishes, which we frequently refer to as dreams? What about daydreams? There is no possible way of knowing how any given entry relates. Not too different from any music themed challenge, where it is possible to easily reverse engineer whatever you shot that week.

Same here, I just got hit by a 1.
Seems to be lots of those in this challenge? I mean a dream could be anything. Why are people being so narrow minded? |
