I was setting up earlier this evening to take some macro shots of big ant I found today.
I get the camera set up on the tripod with the Canon 50mm f1.4 lens and the extension tubes, I go to gather up the remote and the angle C finder when I get back to the camera to find the cat has camped out right in front of my camera....
so not to miss the opportunity for a cat macro shot I got this
I really need to get a macro ring light or some much better lighting than what I have now to do these macro shots

I was expecting you to say that you got back and the cat had eaten your subject!
BTW: a new variation I just heard:
Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

Good image. Maybe you should give it a litle more croping on the right side. In the books they say that you should always keep the eyes of an animal in focus then other parts dosent matter. Dont know if thats the case here. Sometimes breaking the rules gives good results. |

That is an insane macro, my friend. Very well done. What extension tubes do you use? Kenkos? And were all 3 stacked up.
Same thing almost happened with this guy:
I set the grasshopper was on my kitchen floor, and my cat almost got it. From now on, the cat will be locked in the bathroom when I do indoor bug macros.

I could not see the ants eyes as I was focusing, too much light glare from my cheep shop light.
I used all 3 Kenko extension tubes for the ant, the shot with the cat I only used the 12mm tube.
Im going camping tomorrow for a few days and hopefully I can find a whole assortment of bugs n stuff to shoot
