For the diehard Mac fan, here, in one place, are all your agruments why Windows sucks.
And for the hardcore Windows user, everything that is wrong with the Mac. (including why there is no 64 bit Photoshop for it).
Thought this might help the next time someone asks "what computer should I buy?" and you need some arguments in favor of whatever it is you personally own.
Maybe they'll rip Linux to shreds next week.
Enjoy. |

Windows sucks because I have to deal with it day in and day out.
Macs suck because of Apple's shitty business model. And how dare they call my lovely little android "fragmented"... |

Actually, it runs on top of a *nix core called "Darwin", which was developed from BSD Unix. |

Which was the progeny of the UNIXâ„¢ program developed at Bell Labs (the original AT&T) in New Jersey. Someplace I still have a Unix Programmer's Manual circa 1980 ...
The place I worked used to do printing for a consulting firm called Mt. XINU ...

Speaking of Mac. I just got a 12-core 2.93GHz Mac Pro with 16GB of memory, 0.5TB of SSD, and 3TB of HDD, with the punchier graphics card. It's pretty awesome, too. ;)
The best part is I continuously run both Win 7 and OS X on it. Let's see you do that on a PC!
In fact, there's a number of ways running Win 7 in a VM under OS X is even better than running it native on a PC (of course many of these advantages would be available running Win 7 in a VM under Win 7, too).
And I can always boot directly to Win 7 (boot camp!) for hard-core video gaming. And, as has been noted, there's 64bit CS5 for OS X. And I can run 64-bit Win Photoshop under Win 7 under OS X too. Or just in Win 7.
No wait, the real best part was the secret 25% discount and paying for the whole thing in App Store sales. :)
In any case this whole religious war is pretty quaint in these days of virtualization and everyone running on the same hardware...

I don't need to. I already have a Win7 machine. Why would I want to buy overpriced hardware in order to run it alongside a second OS I don't need?
See how well this works? Actually, all OS's suck. Just in different ways. If I could take the file system of the Mac, and put it with some of the better features and capabilities of Windows, it would be awesome. (And before someone says it, no that would not give me Linux.) |

So your argument is you're not buying something because you don't need it? Sounds reasonable to me. I do that with a lot of stuff.
But you've missed the part about paying for the whole thing with App Store sales. Can't do that on a PC. Requires a Mac. Fortunately I have 'both'. :)
I got my Mac when my PC obsoleted itself with age, without abandoning any of my PC's software or capabilities, and adding a ton more capabilities on top. Like iOS development! Non-crashy hardware!
Your response doesn't work well at all, actually... A Mac is a superset of a PC. You might as well be quibbling over the expense of adding hardware to a PC that you don't need. Nobody's making an argument you should buy things you won't use.
P.S. I did take the file system of a Mac and combine it with the better features and capabilities of Windows. Why only yesterday I ran my Win-only MP3 volume normalizing tool on 1000's of MP3 on an HFS+ drive. Crazy, I know. :) |

See? My original point of posting this tit-for-tat set of articles is made. You bit and started in with why the Mac is superior in your opinion. BTW, I'm not a Windows fanboy, and I'm not a Mac fanboy either. These are giant corporations that do just fine without needing that. I've used Macs. I like Macs. But I also like Windows and I prefer my main system to be a PC. I'm also a cheapskate, and that precludes anything but a well used Mac.
If the prophet Jobs ever allows OSX to be installed on a box I put together myself with my choice of components, them perhaps I will have a Mac as a second system on the same desk. Not like that is ever going to happen. In fact, if the Mac were first being made today, it would be tied exclusively into the app store.

I've heard you can already do that without permission -- it just takes some trickery that someone who can build a computer can probably handle.
I miss the good ol' days when we could argue about PageMaker (a.k.a. RageMaker) vs. QuarkXPRESS. With that one, we found that Aldus/Adobe tech support pretty easy to reach, which was good, because we needed to so often. Quark tech support was traditionally hard to get hold of -- fortunately we almost never had to. |

I'm sure they will add a "why Linux sucks" article soon enough.

It's all corporate blustering. Whether Jobs is right or wrong, he draws attention to himself and Apple's products this way. He knows how to use the internet hype machine.
Microsoft is starting to look like the underdog in some ways.

They're buying, but Apple isn't producing them fast enough. It's a supply problem, not a demand problem. |

Oh man... I'd pay top dollar for that bit of history!
Btw, FreeBSD is the flavour of BSD most heavily borrowed from by OS X. |

It's people like you that contribute to our foreign oil dependence. First, you should fly. Second, if you must drive, drive a Honda.
