I've been looking at some underwater imagery, and it has really captured my imagination. However, I don't have $1,200 to buy a casing for my D90. Any other dependable waterproof options out there?

I just recently shot this image with a underwater point and shoot. The Canon Powershot 10D is a great little point and shoot for around $200. I practiced underwater images and I LOVED the results. I don't have extra money for under-water housing either. However, this little camera is great for just that...underwater photography......at a very reasonable price.

Yeah, for about $320 you can get a waterproof P&S camera -- check out the Canon version. There was a group review of waterproof cameras at DPreview.com a few months ago which was very helpful. In addition, if you go that route, you then have a carry-around camera you can take out in the rain or at the beach with relative impunity. The Canon is rated to be shockproof from a height of about five feet, so it's also a good kid's camera ...

ETA: If it's down to $200 I don't see how you can go very wrong ...

Did that remind anyone else of Wayne's World?

@ coryboehne - yes, it did.

Thanks Jennifer. I was getting all ferklempt at the idea of getting my camera in the water, especially if I was going to use a ziplock bag LOL!

Now I just have to worry about co-mingling a Nikon with a Canon in the same bag...
