I could really use some straight-forward, no holding back critique on some photos. I can't post them here, but if anyone has a few minutes, I'd love your input. Let me know, and I'll send you the link.
Thanks in advance!

Hey, Doc, how did the partial desat work on the picture? Or did you find an even better option?

I haven't gotten back to it yet. I've been working up doggy pictures from the Cairn Terrier reunion I shot this Saturday. |

You know, Jason, I'm still waiting for you to add a horse photo to your portfolio...tap...tap...tap... |

My dear Mae, why would any of us be foolish enough to do a horse picture, when we know we can't be anywhere as good as you? T'would be silly!

Hahahaha! Oh Wendy...you crack me up. ...;-P
Jason does not have even a single horse image in the wealth of his magnificent portfolio. I'm sad!
How does his little daughter allow him to get away with this travesty?!
Ah well...perhaps in the next life then...carry on!

Yes, but on second thought...would we really want to distract him from his fascinating bouncing cheerleader photos with dangerously displayed cleavage?!
Horse photography truly would pale in comparison...
*ducks and runs*
p.s. Just so you know, Jason...I missed ya! Thanks Wendy for this thread! ;-) |

Well, Wendy, I promise to behave myself today and keep my halo polished brightly!
Hmmmmmm...I haven't seen you on the front page recently. No dawdling...get busy now!
Hope everyone has a happy Wednesday...;-)

Naw -- I'm trying my best to suck instead. Just finished with a 4.7 in negative and I have a 5.0 going at the moment in monuments. I guess I'm starting to fall apart because I haven't done any bird photos for awhile.
And I don't know if you're allowed to continue in this thread if you're threatening to behave yourself. What's the fun in that?!

I hear you Wendy. My FS image is doing MUCH more poorly than I had anticipated (or hoped, anyway), and my macro... well, 'nuff said. |

It's actually ok, though. I loved my negative shot, but didn't expect much out of it, and I expected the monument to do poorly. I just put it in because I bothered shooting for the challenge. I expected between 4.8 & 5.3, so it's hard to complain. :)
So there's an argument going on in the "from the knees down" thread -- whether it refers to take pictures of bodies from the knees down, or perspective of a shot taken from the knees down. What do you guys think? And do birds have knees? :D

It's the joint between the thigh and the drumstick on a piece of chicken. |

And they bend backwards. |

Uh, unless I'm mixed up about which direction is front and which back, my knees bend backwards ... or flex posteriorly as they like to say in anatomy class. |

Ahhhh it's their ankles, not their knees. The knees are hidden among the feathers and even inside their bodies. Ahhhh |

Didn't I see somewhere where you totally kicked butt, took names and actual prizes in a real-world photo competition? |

I did win a prize in the Virginia Wildlife Magazine photo competition, but it was a bird shot. :)
Although, come to think of it, my recent 4.7 was birds. Oh no!!! I'm losing it even with birds!!! :P
I'm just teasing, anyway. I can't complain about low scores when I haven't had a lot of time to put into things. They've been last minute, try to get something shots. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. :)

No, I meant the state fair, though the magazine is very cool too! And didn't your son take a ton of honors as well? One should always let us know about real life successes! (I got told "Oh, you have a really nice camera!" after I took pictures at an office picnic. I was so proud.) |

I'm confused... How do you know about the state fair? Did I post in my sleep?
Yup! I got Best in Show in the b&w category, and 4 blue ribbons (10 photographs entered).
However, jcar, my son, ribboned in every single thing he entered! 10 ribbons in photography in his age group and 1 for a lego sculpture. He was on cloud nine!!
(I get the, "nice camera, that should really take good pictures" comments all the time. They were just figuring that's the reason you take such wonderful pictures! :)
ok, I had to go look -- I did post in my sleep!
