Where on the site can I find information on utilizing "My Portfolio"?
Are the images restricted in size like the challenges?
Why is the "Workshop" folder there?
A basic tutorial is what I need.

No restriction on size, but the bigger the file the more of the 10mb is used up. All prints must have a home in your portfolio before downloading to become DPCprints, that's why sometimes you see really tiny pictures in some peoples' portfolio.
People tend to also erase/delete images after some time. For instance I made my version of someone elses picture to show them what they can do and after awhile I'm going to delete it.
Pictures can be put into workshop so others can't see it. Sometimes people will upload a DPCprint of their current challenge shots so when the challenge ends it's already approved. Remember that we are not suppose to discuss current pictures in the voting stage.
A site concil member can confirm since I've just started playing around with my portfolio and awaiting a DPCprint confirmation. |

That about covers it. Print files DO NOT count against your 10mb limit, nor do challenge entries. If you want to link a printable file to a challenge entry, it DOES NOT have to match exactly (i.e. you can edit it differently for the print). Photos you want to print for yourself )not for public sale) DO NOT need approval and don't have to meet any size requirement -- you can upload and print anything you want for yourself immediately.
Two other advantages of putting images in your portfolio instead of an outside site and then linking: there's a place for DPC comments to be left (that could be considered a disadvantage by some), and the use of the "post thumbnail" button at the top of the composition page, letting you put a link and thumbnail in a forum post with just the Photo_ID number at the end of the images URL.
You might want to browse through the Tutorials listed under the "Learn" menu for more tips on using the site and the codes (and photography). |

Interesting topic this..I did wonder what purpose the workshop served.
Another point that has puzzled me (must be an answer somewhere but I haven`t found it as yet)Could someone tell me why some images don`t display...only show an url.
Thanks

When the person deletes the picture from their portfolio the url is still there but the image is no longer available.

Thanks Welland, but I think I`ve misled you by using the wrong terminology.
Maybe url wasn`t the correct word...the situation I`m talking about can be seen in challenges also, when the image isn`t displayed only the title (yes that`s the word I should have used) :)
Thanks,
