It's not because I want to leave DPC, but I was looking around for similar websites to expand, I just can't find one. DPC is unique in many ways, starting from its weekly challenges. However, that's not it... its forums are so much alive, there are no others as far as I can see. DPC also very simple to navigate and access.
PhotoPoints is the closest thing I found, because one of my friends member to it for 7 years... it's just not the same feeling though. |

| I don't think there is another group that is as supportive as DPC - we embrace all members(no matter how nutty they are). |

Jac, you crack me up. You have made no secret of how antiquated you find he site's design, how dinosaur-like are the SC, I could go on. And yet... here you are! Once roaches check in... turns out we really like it :-)

Excuse me but I have never ever complained about how antiquated this site is or how the SC are dinosaur like. Find a thread and I'll eat my shorts. I do in fact complain about the lack of activity by the owner(s) of this site and how slow anything gets done around here. That won't change. :) DPL comes to mind. It's been over for almost 3 months but still no announcement about DPL3 although it was stated somewhere by the owner that there would be 3, maybe more DPLs per year before DPL2. I saw in another thread how this site looked 8 years ago. WOW, same colours, same forum, same everything, almost. It must suck to have been here for 8 years and still see the same forum colours. LOL I mean this is a photography site after all isn't it so why not make it look like one.
As for the SC, my only complaint is there aren't enough of them.
Now go find those threads, I'm kind of hungry but not for shorts though.
I'm hungry for Dic Anns.

Maybe the lack of activity by the owner(s) is because they have zero competition. It's time that changed imo.

Awww,  Jac, I've been here almost 8 years and I like the forum colors and the rest of the design of the site too! It's a nice, comfortable site that, for the most part, is easy to navigate and enjoy.
One of the very nice things about the site is that it does not try to compete with the photography we present!
Yeah, sure, I have had grumbles over the years about various facets of the site just like everyone else, but the design? Works for me! |

hmm re-reading that sounds odd to me now. Dic Anns is a fast food joint unlike any other. They make regular hamburgers but add a spicy tomato sauce and then squeeze the hamburger to about half an inch thick. Nothing tastes like these hamburgers, anywhere. mm mm good. Off I go....to pick up three, no fries, no soft drinks. ;)
Alice, you're right. I would change the blue to grey though. A dark grey but not too dark like some graphic apps are. |
