Hello all...I would like to know if there's such a thing as insurance specifically for photographic equipment or is it just covered under homeowners or renters insurance? Is it expensive and is all photographic equipment covered or just certain items? Are there specific companies that offer it? I will most likely purchase this kind of insurance, if it exists, when I purchase a DSLR in the near future.
Thanks for you help...Olyuzi |

I have always had a rider on my homeowners insurance just for my camera. It's cheap and ya just never know. :) |

You could join NANPA. They have camera insurance. See //www.nanpa.org/insurance.html for details about their insurance program. $350 minimum premium and cost is $2.30 per $100 of insured value. You can include the computer and equipment you use to do your digital imaging on the policy, too.

I have my camera listed on what is called a "personal articles" policy. It is a rider to my renters insurance, and specifically lists my camera and lenses by model and serial number. This may be worth doing even if you find the equipment is already covered by your homeowners/renters coverage, as the coverage on a personal articles policy is often somewhat broader and there may be a lower (or no) deductible.
I would recommend calling your insurance agent -- he or she should know the products they sell and can tell you whether they have something appropriate for your needs.

I have just taken up fuji's offer for an extended warranty using Domestic and General
www.domgen.com
£49 for an extra 4 yrs cover on my finepix bought last september.
Covers everything, repairs, accidental damage, new for old on uneconomic repairs.
As for theft etc. I have added to my home contents insurance for very little.
Concidering during my recent problem ( dirt spec on the ccd )fuji accidentally sent me a pro forma invoice for £129 it is well worth the cover.
By the way on proof of purchase fuji cleaned the ccd free of charge under the 12 month manufacturers guarantee. 3day return which was very good.
