I'm on my way to Tampa to visit my son at USF and I'll be free tonight while the boys watch football. I don't want to drive too far but I'd really love to find a park or something by the water so I can take some pretty sunset pix. Any ideas (or does anyone want to join me)???

from Tampa you will need to go straight West and you will run into the Gulf...it's a great place to "explore" and visit...there is a Columbia Restaurant in Clearwater just a little South from the bridge to Clearwater...really good food...but the very best Columbia is in Ybor City...it's the original, they have Flamingo Dancing here...but I will say the food is beyond excellent and if you've never been to a Columbia you need to go...They have the very best Key Lime Pie I have ever had at any restaurant...in a wk I will be looking for the best Key Lime in the Keys...

Wish I could meet you there...I had gone up to Sunset Park in Tarpon Springs...that was a nice park...but a little bit of a drive from Tampa...not far and there is excellent Greek Food...I don't know the restaurants there at all

And there is also "Honeymoon Island" nice beach area and would make for a good sunset....this is the State Park

Hope you have a good time...let me know where you end up...IMO the best Sunset Pictures will be on the Gulf...you can get them on the Bay but the Gulf is stunning

Pier 60 is a hotspot for people watching around sunset, and the view isn't bad by any means.

Ft Desoto County Park
It's a 30/ 45 minute drive from Tampa, but worth the ride if you want to spend an hour or two.

Pier 60 looks great... But now I'm thinking it's too far. 4 hr drive here, then just drove 30 min each way to the mall, not sure I want to drive 45 min each way by myself. I think I'd need motivation from a DPCer in the area. :-)

Thanks though. Maybe next time I can plan better.
