Not to be picky, but I find the title of this thread just a bit ironic, dont you know ... :-)

oh? and why is that?

"Can't" is spelled with an apostrophe in the context you used it.

Without that punctuation your title means "Why people who lean over get it right" which -- just guessing now -- is not what you meant. That's also why I misspelled "don't" in my earlier post, to mirror the same typo.

I can fix the title if you want -- it doesn't matter that much to me (though it might make searching for the thread title harder) -- but it might to the Grammar Police currently patroling the forums.

Grammar Police Alert! It is an Ad, not an Add? Or It's an Ad, not an Add?

Since I text, I don't usually use the best grammer. Anyways... It's just a habbit that I have and I don't usually pay attention to it.

most small businesses fail because the owner is trying to sit on a one-legged stool: production. they love doing the work of the business (baking the cake, taking the pic, making the dress), but more often than not don't have a clue about sales & marketing, or admin, or both.

the funny thing is, those that excel in sales in marketing usually last longer, especially if they're able to figure out how to do the work they're selling before people catch on that they can't really deliver...

Truer words have not been spoken. I know a local guy here that is a marketing "genius;" he does really good at selling himself. His pictures? um, meh. Really not good.

Ditto. Ran into a local guy recently. He had nice glass and a decent lens, but when I checked out his website - sorry, but they're just snaps taken with a DSLR. Oh yeah he also said he hardly ever uses PS. Yet there is a very heavily PS'd shot on his homepage. Go figure.

Since i graduated a yr early, i have recieved mailers for photographers who want work for senior protraits. But today, what i just described happend. The add looked really great! But when i checked their site...OMG how are they getting work?! you know those little studios in the mall that have OK shots? this is the quality of work this photographer had except it was worse! and the editing that they did was odd... anyways...

PHOTOGRAPHERS: atleast have an honest representation of your work!

There is my rant...and now im done...

I didn't realize you folks were in the NW -- my dad used to live in Home, on the Key Peninsula, across the water from Tacoma ... to get there you cross the now-completed second span of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, go past Gig Harbor and turn left at Purdy.

I've taken a lot of pictures up that area over the years, these are views from the back porch:

I also know a few photographers who's work is so strong that they simply focus of production and admin while the jobs stack up. Their work sells itself and the more they produce the more great images are circulating and bringing in more work. Of course this isn't my situation... but I can dream.
