I was reading an article about IE9 and they were comparing a new feature to one in Chrome that I didn't even know about. So I gave it a try, and it's pretty cool.
Basically, you can create a shortcut to any webpage on any and all of these: your Desktop, the Start Menu, and the Task Bar (as a pinned program). Just go under the wrench menu->Tools->Create Application Shortcuts while you are on the site and tab you want to separate.
Why do this? For one thing, you can configure websites to behave more like local apps, and the browser itself becomes more "invisible". And if you are like me, you often have so many tabs open, that the convenience of the tab model starts to break down.
For example, I took Gmail, MSN Mail, Google Calender, and a work site, and created pinned Task Bar items...the nice thing is they show their own icons, don't have tabs themselves, so the window space is optimized, and basically, it works like any local app--starting right where you want it. And the button is of course not grouped with the Chrome windows, so it's easy to open or bring to the front. You wouldn't want to do that with too many...or your task bar would become overcrowded (mine is somewhat overloaded just from running apps, but I only keep the essentials pinned, and you can also use the start menu or desktop shortcuts instead).
Anyway, I think it's a very good idea given the heavy use web browsers get (heck, I still typically have 12-15 tabs open at a time.)
Just posting in case others didn't know about this feature--I didn't, and I've been using Chrome for quite a while (though I'm sure they just slipped that in somewhat recently, since the "Tools" submenu is a recent addition I believe.

Something else cool about Chrome...
This is actually based on a Google Search feature, rather than Chrome, but it's still cool for chrome because you can just type it on the URL (like any search).
Type:
What time is sunset?
what is 20 km/h in miles/hr?
172lbs in kg
Note that in each case, in addition to the results of a search, you actually get the answer to your question as the first part of the results.
Of course, as a photographer, the main one I use is "what time is sunset?" But I just found a use for the metric converter too while reading another thread. :)

I've bought a bunch of domains and route them to my Gmail from my domain provider. From Gmail it's easy to config them as Send From addresses as well. I've got a Google Partner Page set up so every member of my family can configure their own home page to their liking at our surname domain. I love Google! |

I would consider the other way around--I like the msn mail interface much better. I can sit back and use the arrow keys on my keyboard and the delete key and read and delete mail very quickly. Gmail doesn't have a paned-browser-style view. Going beyond point and click mouse usage on Gmail's interface reminds me too much of Emacs, a Unix based programmer's editor I never much cared for. I'm guessing that says something about who works at Google.
