"From", not "by"; the IP of the people who hit her is located in Nigeria.

Karmat, is your email a gmail account by any chance. I got the same email from a friend of mine about 8 months ago except she was "mugged & stranded in London". Hers was a hacked gmail account. |

I guess my question was more along the lines of how does one's email get hijacked by an IP in Nigeria? I have gmail... I'm open to accepting money from everyone but only if I can still control the mailbox. :-) |

They make it forward to another email address. I have no emails in my "inbox" from the time it was taken over until it was restored last night. One of the steps I had to take when I got it back was remove the forwarding address.

I'm not in Scotland,
So don't forget it.
It's just a silly phase I'm going through... |

I've yet to find out exactly how an email box gets hijacked. Do they guess passwords? Is it a viral thing? What can I do to not end up in Scotland or offering drugs for sale? |

Unfortunately, I think it's an inevitable fate for us all. |

I have no freakin' idea. My password was "strong" so it wasn't like they just had to enter a few numbers. |
