That was good!
That phenomenon occurs in this area once in a while during the fall or winter. I didn't know what it was called though.

Isn't Daily Mail widely known for publishing badly fabricated photos....? Just saying...

It's over-sharpened too.

Well, try entering "roll cloud" as your search term in google images, and see how real they are :-)

Man, I just love odd weather. It's so fun to stumble across wonders of nature (I guess as long as you don't get hurt). Reminds me of grabbing this terrible picture of a noctilucent cloud last year.

Very true- it's just for me, each time I see a Daily Mail reference on a photo forum, I alternately cringe or laugh gleefully at the terribleness. Assuming it's real, it's a pretty cool photo. Interesting phenomenon, in any case, as well.

I like how at 0:58 all the birds were smart enough to get out of the way. You know there was going to be a ton of rain as the wind picked up at the end of the video probably representing a gust front or downburst.

That roll cloud phenomenon occurs every year in the north of Australia at the beginning of the rainy season there. "Morning Glory" is its nickname up there. I doubt very much if that photographer hadn't seen one before if he lives there.
I watched a TV program on it last year, about a glider pilot who wanted to fly along one. It was pretty spectacular.
