Have the same issue like Juliet, if someone would give me an opinion I would highly appreciate!

I can take a look. I'm dealing with the same issues -- so I think it will be easier to tell on someone else's image.

Thx, just dropped you a pm.

What role does contrast play in an underexposed image? Does the image have to be muted tones and all or is sharp contrast okay.

I have no idea what I'm doing here. I've taken about two shots all week, and I've got zero creativity at the moment. I don't know...

I put one in that is truly the left half of the histogram--but it's a subject that hasn't proved to be compelling here so that will probably hurt its scores. I enjoyed shooting it specifically for the challenge amongst a bunch of "normal" images.

Well I'm in but I'm having serious doubts that it's really meeting the challenge. I was very clear in my mind when taking the shot that this would nail the DPC challenge police but now I've lost all confidence. I'm sure the voters will let me know.

editted for sp mistake - damn predictive text.

I think sharp contrast is ok. An image can be underexposed and still have plenty of contrast between the shadow and midtone areas. Of course, I could be wrong about how that applies in DPC-land. The mass judgment on that remains to be seen.

An hour left to second-guess myself and the voters. ;-)

There's the issue. Don't try to second guess the voters. It's a losing effort. Make sure that YOU are pleased by what you enter and the percentage of hits increases. (I doubted it when it was suggested to me, but it has worked.)

I'm in.
Yes, go with your instinct about what to enter.
I think of underexposed as being a couple of f stops less EV than what the camera metering system is wanting to do.
Here's a jpg shot, and the underexposed original with the details.

The rules don't say that we can't adjust brightness to make up for the underexposure, but I feel that voting would be rough on that.

I dug up a couple candidates from my outing this afternoon, and submitted one with a hour and a quarter before the deadline. Then, I started looking thru some of the other shots I took from the same outing and found a third candidate that I felt blew the other two away. I got that one updated/submitted less than 30 minutes before the deadline.

I don't know if it's a great shot, or if it really fulfills the challenge, but I like it and that works for me. :)
