I think I have about 110 rejected with 12 published. The number is so high because of that period when bronze members got something like 30 upload slots a week. I'm kind of glad they are so picky or there would be a lot more rubbish of mine up there. |

My first submission/rejection was in 2007. I have subsequently had 100% rejection rate. I am quite selective (or rather can't be bothered!) about what I submit. But anyway, 30 rejections so far. |

I'm a lightweight. I've got five published, eleven rejected. I suppose it's a good average, but I've been there for two years or something and almost never submit. Kind of like here. My first submission was accepted though, which was cool, and which is probably why I tried again. |

Flinging spaghetti at a wall is probably not the best way to go, IMO. Granted you might learn what gets excepted faster at places like 1x and here but in doing so you forgo having a portfolio that speaks clearly of your vision and your style. One of the hardest things to do is edit down your own work (i.e. select the best) and not let personal attachment to certain photos cloud your vision. It's a skill worth mastering and certainly better in the long run than playing the spaghetti lottery.

I would've liked them at the time but it was a while ago (I'm all better now). Like Louis, I got my first submission accepted - I just threw a few more at it; actually more than a few - I just checked and there are 160 rejects! (now that will take some beating!!) There are only 11 of those I would really defend now and actually only 6 of the 12 I do have published!

These numbers you peeps are posting are encouraging. I've had zero accepted out of the zero I've submitted. :Þ |

I can't argue there. Is it sad that those may speak to my vision and style? ;) |

39 submitted, 3 accepted... but it's been a looong time. Perhaps I'll give it another go soon. |

I'm still unpublished, after about 10 attempts. Do you just submit for screening, or do you also submit for critiques? |

Hmmmm...I feel a little pouty when I read this sentence because of the five...wait, make that SIX photos that I have published...::pause for Richard to laugh at me::...each one has a deeply personal meaning to me. Am I weird that my "best" work so far appears to be the subjects that I love the most?!
I guess when I have as many published as you all and develop more of a "volume" in style...then I will be grown up enough as a photographer to understand this concept better.
Finding the right synchronicity in personal style of expression is such an elusive mystery somehow.
Your statement is an easy one to make and a difficult one to follow.

nothing accepted. Don't think I have anything in which they'd be interested. *sigh*

Well if you have hundreds and hundreds of photos like that ::faintly beaming:: horse (trademark pending) then you have nothing to be pouty about and you certainly shouldn't be listening to me.

I'm too intimidated to submit very much...but the one I posted for critique was a very positive experience.
Of course, if you want a true critique...you can always ask our beloved Richard!!! He's to the point (pout) but unparalleled in skill and honesty.

Did anybody notice the new rules change for "blue" members? Suggest if you haven't you check out the threads about it under site news in the forum. It seems you lose all uploading rights now after 10 straight rejections. The change will take place at the next "upgrade" of the site.

After 10 pictures not published, photographers will need the bronze premium membership to upload more. This will only affect future uploads.
At the same time, we will soon introduce a system encouraging uploading great pictures. Every time an image is published, the photographer automatically receives a new upload slot! |
I hope that is not directed towards this thread, if it is then I think it's been terribly misunderstood. As I recall, this thread was created so we could commiserate together when we had been rejected, and was not a competition to get the most rejects! |

Yeah, I believe we want our images published at 1x.
Ursula...put in a good word for us! |

Is that 10 straight rejections or just 10 rejections in total?

Richard, that's 10 straight. I would fit that category, even though that's over a long period. |

Dear me,
I really hope that isn't how this thread was interpreted. I have high rejection numbers but they were not at all in pursuit of rejection bragging rights. Simply a function of being a 1x member for a good while and having the opportunity (back then) to upload (I think) 30 images per week. I sent quite a lot from my back catalogue each week, figuring that those slots were there to be used.
Having said that, I was a bronze member so changes to blue wouldn't help filter out that practice. It is all more restrictive nowadays and I submit an average of 2-3 per month. |

ever since paulbtlw told me about 1x.com 1 had 11 published and 33 rejects so my batting avg is 1 out of 4 and since I usually post 2 per week, I have 1 photo approved every 2 weeks :) |

Well I hope I didnt ruin the party for everyone. I certainly wasnt meaning to rack up the rejects. It wasnt a goal of mine to be labeled the suckiest. On that note - I will let my name fade into obscurity over there (not sure how much more obscure it could be in the first place) and not bug their screeners anymore. You are stuck with me here. |

Yeegads. I certainly hope it wasn't from this thread! I only try once every three months or so and I really only try something I think might get accepted. But sadly, I'm betting it IS because of this thread.

Wasn't there another thread in here someplace where people were capping on the owners of 1x? I'm sure that also has something to do with it.
For the record, I'm still not 1x material. I have reached the "make-it-thru-3-days-of-screening-before-rejection" level tho :) |
