Someone at work sent me a link to a website for lens hoods...and the price is right! FREE!
Not the fancy kind, but workable! Worth a try if you're on a tight budget.

Thanks for that linkie. I'm going to add it to the freebie software list. Is a printable lens hood software or hardware? I confuse easily.

It's touchable, so hardware, but you use a computer file to make it, so software....no, wait. I'm changing my answer again! :p

Hardware, Spiffy... I'm going to try a couple. I've a couple canon lenses without lens hoods. Super heavy weight black paper?

Toner will not show against black paper, so cutting it out would be a problem. Unless you first cut out a white paper template to tape on top of the black paper. White or gray card stock would still do the job.

White could actually cause MORE flaring in the right/wrong situations.

Either way, in a bad cross lighting situation, I find it most effective to just hold a grey card near the lens to block light.
