I need a monopod,I shoot American style football and use a nikon with a 70-200vr lens with a x2 teleconvertor. What are you using? should I get a ball head as well?

I bought one of these Induro monopods just last week. The carbon fiber model was under $100 US at a local camera shop. The aluminum version was under $50, but I decided I would be likely to have it with me more if it were the lighter version. I have also used a cheap $18 monopod from Wal-mart, which worked just fine, though eventually the flip locks didn't hold tight anymore, and it would retract a bit under weight. Still, for $18 it was a good buy. I have some $30 Sunpak ballheads, which are a knockoff of a Manfrotto design. Works decently, though certainly not as smooth and elegant as the 'frotto product would be.
