Did some lunchtime damage of my own as well.

There is a recommendation that if you vote 1-3 you leave a comment to say why, but this recommendation is nearly always ignored. |

OH, they don't but this is also a learning site and those that apparently totally hate a shot to the point of giving out a 1, are NOT helping anyone learn what was not appealing when the slam someone and don't even offer up suggestions, or opinions, or feelings as to what the big turnoff is! You've been here long enough to remember the box encouraging comments for votes of three of lower. (Maybe it's even still used, but I rarely find photographs so awful that they get a super low vote, especially if they made an effort to actually go take a shot and didn't just lay in the recliner and shoot their kid or something without any effort! Anyway.... (edited for typo)

Some people won't like some pictures, or they'll vote them down for various reasons. It's like every thread has people bitching about getting low scores and how their special snowflake of a picture should be scoring higher, when voters obviously feel differently.
This was a difficult challenge to judge because there were a lot of shoehorns and weak shots (my own submission isn't the strongest, but I'm satisfied with the 4.7 it has now).

But, we'll not grow/learn if we don't get feedback periodically. Getting a 1 is part of the voting process, as I"m sure the voter had their personal reason's, that's ok, but if there is something I missed, a comment might help me a) pay better attention when shooting, b) process differently, c) not care because someone just gave me a 9. :P (more typos! ugh!)
