On a basic editing challenge, I have selective desaturated, adjusted contrast and levels.
Is this ok?
P.s I have read the rules but can't find anything about contrast or levels.
Thanks.

Contrast and levels adjustments are fine in Basic. Selective desaturation is only allowed by desaturating all reds, blues, etc. in the image (you can't make any selections).

So I can't have just a flower in colour for example? |

You can't make a selection of the flower and desaturate the rest of the image. If you can do it by adjusting the colors over the entire image, then it's okay:
From the Basic Editing rules.
You may:
saturate, desaturate or change the colors of your entry, but no selections are allowed.
