Are these of other people, or can self portraits be entered as well? Just because.... well, I don't really have anyone else to shoot. :(

Portraits can also be taken of animals. The challenge details only state 'typically' taken of a person, not exclusively, but unfortunately at least some voters would probably find an issue with that :(
Anyone know where I can rent out kids by the hour? :P

I wondered about that too (the self portrait). I was also wondering if a portrait implies a posed "sitting" subject, or can a portrait include candid face shots?
Whatever the case, pictures in landscape mode obviously don't meet the challenge. :) |

Self, candid, model poses, etc should all be under the banner of a portrait. The face should be the main focus in the shot. Reread the details and make your own interpretation. |

Or, for portraiture which is not conventionally studie based, see prizewinners in National Portrait Gallery Schweppes competition.

Very different, I like those as well.
I can just imagine what kind of comments they might receive here at DPC (compared to the ones at portranet).

Just saw that you live in Wichita. You could call The Gregory Agency or Model's and Images for talent. Like $50 an hour for models. But I think a portrait of a chimp from SCZ might be more interesting... ;D |

I think self portraits are fine, how would anyone know it's a self portrait, unless you named it that ;)
Seriously, not even the most known photographers on this site are recognized by most when they photograph themselves.
I say go for it! |
