I bought my G1 during the last cameraphone SC 2 years ago. Maybe this is a hint that it is time to upgrade again? The Tmobile Vibrant (Samsung Galaxy-S) looks pretty cool, but Tmobile is dropping teasers for the upcoming G2 release.

I'm on week 2 of my upgrade to the vibrant from the g1. It is great except there are known gps issues that samsung says will be addressed in september. G2 releases 9/29. Personally, I'd probably wait at this point. It will be the first hspa+ phone, and if your area gets that coverage, you'll be glad you have it. Hard keyboard is a plus, too.

The G2 is the first phone I've ever felt was complete. It really feels just about perfected, granted there are always small nitpicks one can make, but truly, this phone really delivers where it's important, and all of the additional features seem to function very well. Wait for the G2, you won't be disappointed.

Have you somehow managed to get a pre-release?!

LOL..

I'm sleeping still.. I meant Droid 2.. The Verizon one...

Haha. I thought that might be the case, but didn't want to assume. I would have been insanely jealous.

I really should have lied. :)

Please add me to the list!!!!

My sister has the latest I-phone and pics are amazing. I just got the update for my Samsung Moment 3G and it takes really BIG files now if I want, not the little dinky ones it used to do. I can change the settings if I don't want such a big one.

This is gonna be fun!!!

I found an iPhone app today called Diptic. It's quite fun It makes diptychs, triptychs etc (surprising eh? would never have guessed from the name).

Well I suppose I should be in this SC since I've been whining about having such a challenge for weeks. Sign me up.

This may actually be a challenge that I could complete since I've been using my iPhone camera a fair bit. Sign me up. :)

I posted a list awhile back of the camera apps that I use and updated it tonight. It's iPhone specific and isn't extensive reviews or anything, just a note or two on apps I've downloaded.

Apps that live on my iPhone

I also uploaded some of the stuff I've been doing with my phone in the past year or so.

MK, that's a great list. You have quite a collection growing there. Off to check them out. I'm really looking forward to seeing what apps everybody has.

Excellent collection of images too.

I have never done a side challenge, or even looked in on one to be honest. This sounds like fun though. So do we post a new image every day of the month if possible- is that how this works?
I guess I'm game too :-)

Yes, Brent, the idea is to have fun, no pressure. Add as many or as few as you have time for. Comment on each others when you have time. Side challenges are fun, typically no editing rules and often you learn stuff you didn't expect to.

I'd like to play. I'm still using my old 3G iPhone, so will be at a bit of a disadvantage. Still takes some decent shots though, as long as you don't look too close ;)

I don't think I have the megapixils to blow it up to standard DPC size. Do you have any guidelines on size for this challenge. Maybe we should use our phones for viewing and commenting.

I'm waiting in Canada to get my hands on a iPhone 4 but I'm willing to try this on my 3G. Sign me up.

I'm not understanding your statement. The older iPhones still shoot at I think 5 Megapixels? The pics I have seen from them are pretty sharp and clear, with plenty of resolution. My G1 is 5Mp, but has a lousy plastic lens, so I need to do subjects and treatments that don't need razor sharpness.

I've been surprised by some pretty amazing shots with the iPhone, both 3G and 4G... I'd like to play along as time permits.

Actually the 3G (what I have) is a blazing 2 megapixels, but if I remember correctly, Joey Lawrence started out with a 2 megapixel camera, and look at him now! 8)

Under the right conditions, it can take some very good pictures. And if we're going for "retro", the 2 megapixels may even be an advantage.

I'll take a stab at this! Thanks to the previous posters who alerted me to the existence of Photoshop Express (I'm using a Droid).
