You have to give credit where credit is due. That site stole the content from worth1000.com. They have had 3 other "decorate Martha's cell" Photoshop contests - Here was the first (and there are links to the others)

Here's a couple of further commentaries on the subject. The second is an original lyric; the audio should be available at DaveRoss.com

MARTHA

Are WE any better than Martha?...

People are clucking that Martha Stewart is getting what she deserves; thought she was above the law; thought she could talk her way out of the traffic ticket; that's what happens when you lie.
But not so fast.

What exactly did Martha do:
She used inside information from her broker. That means she took advantage of information SHE had that others didn't and used it to her own benefit, then lied about it.

She used that information to dump a pile of defective stock before anyone else knew it was defective. She was willing to screw the investors who bought her stock rather than take her own lumps.

In other words... she's headed to jail ... for doing what a LOT of people do.
You ever sold a car without disclosing everything you know about it?
If a woman takes a job knowing she intends to get pregnant and leave - well, the employer isn't allowed to ask about that, even though his investment is at stake, but shouldn't the truly HONEST woman voluntarily disclose it?
Suppose you've decided to sell your house because you've learned a sex offender is moving next door? A truly honest person would put it right in the ad! You could give it a positive spin -- Home for sale! Your new neighbor only molests close relatives!

Here's the real test: if you find a Honus Wagner baseball card at a garage sale, and the owner clearly doesn't know it's worth $100,000, do you tell him? Or do you say, "Honus Wagner?! Whoever heard of him?"

This whole honesty thing... could get prickly. Thank goodness we only apply it to Wall Street.

MARTHA ROCK

Jury said Martha had to go to jail
Women in suburbia began to wail
(She'll be) handin' out her recipe for party mix
To the meth lab mommas on cell block six,
Oh, you rock. Martha you rock.
You never shoulda sold that stock,
But Martha baby you still rock.

Everything that Martha made she made from scratch
But finally it happened that she met her match
The government attorney really kicked her butt
He made a federal indictment out of fruits and nuts
You rock. Martha you rock.
You never shoulda sold that stock
But Martha baby you still rock.

No, other CEOs'll send your jobs away
And none of 'em will ever face the judgment day.
(So the) only way to make our children safe again
(Was to) send Martha Stewart to the federal pen
You rock, Martha you rock.
America is safe again
With Martha in the federal pen.

Though we're making fun of Martha on this thread, we need to realize just what she's been convicted of...She was never charged with insider trading and the judge threw out the most serious charge of securities fraud. So what has she been convicted of? Four counts of lying to the federal govt. The law she's been found guilty of is called "1001" named after the federal code that contains it.

Now while she can get a total of 20 years in jail for this, and I don't feel sorry for her at all, we also have to realize that there has been rampant corporate crime in the past three years, from Enron, Tyco, Adelphia and Comcast. In the case of Enron, 5000 people lost their jobs and lost millions of dollars from their pension funds. People's lifetime savings are lost and at this point, have not been recovered or compensated. Now I know that Jeffrey Skilling recently had been convicted of the crimes he perpertrated within Enron, but what about Ken Lay, who was Bush's good friend and large campaingn contributor? There were other high ranking Enron executives too who were involved...why haven't they received stiff charges? What about the CEO's for the other companies like Adelphia, Tyco, etc?

Why is the press just covering the Martha trial and not pushing for justice in other areas where more people were effected? Does this have anything to do with Martha being a big democratic contributor?

Edit: Update on Jeffrey Skilling...my mistake...he's been indicted on securities fraud, insider trading and other corporate crime, but has not been convicted yet. He could face the rest of his life in jail and be fined up to 80 million dollars. Let's see what happens with that case.
Just some food for thought.

Good, I hope he does spend the rest of his life in jail for what he did. Well said, I agree with everything in your post. :)

As for Martha, I think 6 months in jail is enough.
