For expressing my personal political views here. I know better than to discuss politics, sex or religion in public. You would think I have learned my lessons after all these years.

For the record, I will not be responding to any other comments that concern politics on this forum as I feel it adds nothing to my photography and that is why I'm here, to better my photography and learn from others.

And I'm blocking the Rant forum from my home page for a while, so if you respond here I won't see it for a while.

Can we make it a threesome ?

I kinda feel that way too - I prefer not to mix politics and photography - as Deannda says - it adds nothing to my photographic skills. Unfortunately, probably not unlike yourselves, there are some hot issues that really make my blood boil from time to time and I feel I have to respond. Maybe I'll take a break from the rant forum as well. I initially began responding only quietly and trying to steer people to other sites for these kinds of posts. I think I'll go back to that mode ;-).

To play devil's advocate, I wonder if our photography skills might not be improved if we did apply our strong beliefs to our images. It might just make them more powerful.

I don't know what instance brought this on. All I know is if you want to put forth a view in here, you better be ready to back it up. No freebies.

Oh, I don't shy away from applying my beliefs to my images if the right opportunity or thought comes up, but I'm just not sure that a photography forum is the best place to argue those points. And I NEVER post anything that I'm not willing to backup in some form, LOL.

I always follow the advice my dad gave me many years ago as I was about to Join the armed forces - 'never get involved in discussions concering politics, religion or football(soccer)'
