Wolf posted this in his thread about the fisheye lens, but I thought I'd open a thread up to talk about the other lenses offered.

Four new L-series lenses

Initially I was pretty intrigued by the 70-300 f/4-5.6L. I thought maybe it would be a less expensive alternative to the 100-400 that doesn't have a push-pull configuration, but I'm surprised to see the price nearly identical at $1,500. Am I missing something? Unless the quality blows the 100-400 out of the water or you have an extreme push-pull phobia, why would you go with this lens?

It's probably a lot smaller and lighter. The 100-400 is a beast.

Mmmm, 8-15mm fisheye zoom!

ETA, I see they have updated the two teleconverters again... now 1.4x III and 2.0x III. Interesting.

Yeah I almost hated to see that the teleconverters were included... $500 apiece, or thereabout. and I'd love to use those new long primes, but they're so far out of my budget that it's barely worth daydreaming about.

Maybe a good time to consider getting a used old one. Something tells me the difference between the two is not going to be super-large.

Yah I wonder. I have the 2x, and it's okay. I don't really use it much, so have been considering selling it. I wonder if the next version will be any better??

Yah for sure! I've been wanting to get my hands on the 300mm f/2.8L after being lent one at an agility match. That bad boy is like $5K new, ~$3.5-$4K used. $7k is just crazy! I'll rent thank you very much :)

After seeing the new 300MMF2.8II and the new teleconverters. I'm glad I already own the 300MMF2.8IS and version II of the 1.4X and 2X. With those new prices it might drive up the used price of those current pieces. I don't use the 2X that often but when I do it's perfect way to have a 600MMF5.6 without spending a ton more money.
