For many expectant parents maternity photography is a luxury activity, which is too costly to afford for the common man. Such people miss this excellent opportunity because of self-imposed cultural limitations, financial limitations, misconceptions and practical limitations. Since, it is your personal affair, so it is you who should decide, whether you need it or can you afford it. To decide, you need to consider various factors- importance, suitability, cultural acceptance and overall cost.
Maternity photography from mymaternityphotography.com permanently stores your experiences and feelings during pregnant period. The photographs of these changes remind you the golden days of youth. Where you shares these photographs with the grown up baby, closer he/she feels to you. The importance of maternity photographs may not be as much during this young age but as you head for the old age, it becomes more. This is the treasure that gives unique pleasure even to your next generation.

I jumped onto this thread because I was just looking at adding some maternity work to my portrait business, but I'm not sure where we are going with this thread? |

Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. |

You know, I embarrassed myself the other day during a maternity shoot. I was demonstrating a pose to the model and realized I had enough gut to actually do the pose :(
So, old age has made maternity easier for me....LOL

I can't see my children being the slightest bit interested in my maternity photo. I can't say that I'd have any interest in seeing my mom pregnant, either.
Weird post.

in all seriousness, i find most maternity shots to be odd at best. why the compulsion exists to beat the view over the head with the exposed stomach is beyond me. not that alot of them can't be pretty but there are too many that end up like the shots in this gallery. |

IMO, they don't have to be that way, but it is what MOST mothers-to-be want.
When I worked with this pregnant model, we did more unconventional stuff, including this mother-daughter photo:

and this more sexy, playful image:

But, I do believe these more traditional belly shots are lovely:

Those are awful! If I never see another maternity picture, it will be too soon.

I am always terrified that one of my images will show up in something like this. Clients ask for odd things and then sometimes we have to shoot under the worse possible conditions and then a crappy scan makes it's way to the internet and WACK! I'm not trying to justify the images in any way... just pointed out that they terrify me for many reasons. |

LOL I love awkward family photos. Some of that stuff scares me tho.
Leroy - the ones you posted are very nice. I bet the women were happy to get them.
That's not a point in time I personally need to remember tho. I'm more happy with the end results :) |

Well, thank you... i do have a distinct advantage of using actual models for the stuff I show in my portfolio though.
