Besides, you've proven yourself well capable of a counter-riposte, and aside from that, when has art ever gone on the defensive?? Really, he has more of an offensive character... ;)

(I know this is WAYYYY to obscure for public consumption.... WTH, I'm posting it anyway. :) )

In fencing, the riposte (French for retort) is an offensive action with the intent of hitting one's opponent, made by the fencer who has just parried an attack.

Yes, but it is used only after one has been on the defensive :)

That doesn't make it not offensive.

Yes, but, as per the original context, it would be one would have had to have been on the defensive at some point now wouldn't it?

Even holding my nose champing and chomping sound quite different - which regional dialect are you referring to?!

I think I'm imagining a caricatured accent, like you'd see in an old cartoon. Or maybe I'm thinking of Boston ... I'm not really that good at placing accents. :-(

Brian May discusses stereo photography on Fresh Air:

(Soundbite of song, "Another One Bites the Dust")

TERRY GROSS: That's the band Queen. My guest, Brian May, is a founding member and the band's lead guitarist. In recent years, he's been concerned with a different kind of dust. Exactly three years ago today, he submitted his doctoral thesis in astrophysics on the subject "A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud." He is now Dr. May, and he's chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University.

But that's not the only twist in his career that would surprise Queen fans. Brian May has also co-written the new book "A Village Lost and Found" that features stereoscopic photos from the 1850s. The pictures were taken by T.R. Williams, one of the first stereo photographers, of the small English village he used to summer in. To see these very early photos in 3-D, you have to assemble and look through a viewer that Brian May designed, which comes with the book.
