I'm just stunned at this story, well not really, but it's a damned blatant case of a dirty, dirty cop...

So, this guy basically gets caught speeding in a construction zone and running a red light, when he stops, he tells the officer that he's responding to an accident and is released without a citation.

The problem is that the accident he was responding to occurred the previous day... Fricking brilliant huh?

Oh, and he was caught a while back porking some unidentified female in a sheriffs vehicle while on duty, he passed it off as a "smear" that his opponents were trying to perpetrate..

and what's wrong with just saying "having sex with an" rather than disparaging a woman you don't know?

She was with a married man, who happens to be an elected official, in the back of a county vehicle, having sex with the sheriff while he's on-duty... Yeah, I think I'm pretty well justified in disparaging her, and I sincerely hope I never get the "opportunity" to know her..

I mean, seriously, your comment focuses on what I wrote, rather than offering any opinion on the story? Because my phrase choice was somehow more important? pfft.

For some reason, yes, didn't seem necessary, still doesn't. BTW, story is not very shocking. I would imagine that kind of thing happens more than we know.

So you think it's fairly "normal" for this to occur? I'm sorry, but the fact that he was caught in a lie and still the state police choose to do nothing is just unacceptable in my mind.. No matter how often it occurs..

Funny enough I had read the story you linked to previously... And yes, that's horrible isn't it? The problem is, no-one in that story actually broke the law, so there's nothing that can be done, except to oust them from office... In the case I posted, there are several laws that were broken, flagrantly, and yet no citation is issued? So something could be done, but likely nothing will occur. I know I'm ranting a bit, but the government all too often seems to serve itself before the citizenry... That's unacceptable and I'm getting more and more pro-active about this type of corruption. (I spent about 30 minutes on the phone today talking to a load of officials and making my opinion known to them.)

*shrug* I'm just disgusted at this type of behavior, I have to suspect that neo-lithic people likely had far better solutions to this type of behavior than we do today...

The Bell folks will likely face criminal charges, one of which is voter fraud.

Certainly it is not unusual for a person in a position of power to take liberties, particularly when nobody is watching. I'm not surprised by either story to be honest. I'm not saying it's OK, and I like to see these folks squirm and face their punishment.

Take David Spellman, Mayor of Blackhawk here in Colorado, a truly strange story of stupid populace and corrupt officials. The guy pleads guilty to pistol whipping his wife, then is elected unanimously to mayor. He uses huge amounts of money that is intended to preserve the history of the city for frivolous ends, takes trips to Vegas on taxpayer money, bought the local newspaper (incidentally the oldest still operating in the state) because it criticized him. His most recent decision has been to completely ban bicycles in the city, which sits along a portion of a scenic byway often used by cyclists. I think he also still has a CBI inquest going, as well. What a winner.

What a redneck! The next thing will be to determine a minimal size for SUVs, smaller cars will be banned also.

As the man says, this is nothing compared to some African countries...

Oh for crying out loud! Who pissed in your cornflakes this morning?

It makes me laugh out loud when I see these comments. Did you know her? Are you every women's keeper?

Cory, choice of words was dead on for this situation. She deserves to be treated for what she is.

Hope this dirty cop meets Mr. Justice one day.

Yeah, she made bad choices. But she wasn't the only one. They're both slugs, so why are you so focused on her stupidity and not his? You make it sound as if she "deserved" it. You may not intend that, but it does sound that way. Personally, I think he's a slug.

I'm not surprised at all - there are many horrible things going on in the world. This actually seems quite mild compared to: the ridiculous war, gulf oil issues, child neglect/abuse, murder, disease (CANCER, AIDS), etc. etc.

Clearly. The difference is that this is easy to solve. :)

I agree, he is clearly the larger "slug" (much too nice of a word really)..

She of course "deserved it"... She was there by choice, and other than suffering what was probably a cruddy lay, she, to the best of my knowledge, has not paid any price at all And my "disparaging" her by insinuating that she's cheap and easy is by all means appropriate, as it is clearly true.

What I'm surprised at is that no-one went the other way with the "porking her" comment... I mean, after all, this is the Sheriff we're talking about.. :)

Wow. Really? I'm sorry you were parented to feel this way. She is a human after all; you don't know her story, you don't know how she came to be in that car, etc. Walk in her shoes, better yet, walk in her parents shoes. Your comments, and Cory's choice of words, are misogynistic, ignorant, or both. Just my two bits. Carry on.
