Come on, it's such a popular subject, lets get the pent up wine glass fetish out of our collective systems. This may provide some people the opportunity to do something unique that does not involve colored water and distorted patterns. Combine it with water droplets if you like.

Ok, here is the best one,

A wine glass, red wine and a rose in it, lady bug walking at the edge and a droplet on middle of the drink... This would get, lets see... 10 for the flower, 10 for the droplet, 10 for the bug and 5 for the wine glass challenge.

35?

LOL

If I see one more picture of a wineglass I think I will throw up. I wouldn't even be able to judge that competition let alone participate.

Pictures that I do not judge...
Wine glasses... overdone
water drops... way overdone
close up of bugs... creepy and way over done.

close ups of bugs? that's like saying landscapes are overdone or buildings. I mean i wouldn't mind seeing less buildings..

The thing of it is, there's a MASSIVE amount of skill, and a steep, steep learning curve, that goes into photographing glassware well. I have nothing but admiration for the people that have perfected it. That doesn't mean I don't get a little tired of seeing these formula shots winning on sheer wow factor, but I wouldn't be bothered at all voting on a whole *challenge* full of glass, where one could dissect the various entries for minutiae of technical accomplishment in a knock-down-drag-out battle of surfaces :-)

I agree, and I can't give a poor vote to something that exhibits such skill. But I am finding myself less impressed with them than I used to be, and though they get votes on the positive side from me, they don't get the highest ones anymore.

They don't have the wow value for me, either. My votes on wine glasses have dropped. I also can't deduct points when they are technically well done, but they don't get the extra points for interesting me, because, well, they don't really interest me anymore.

No thanks.

How about opening it up a bit by just photographing Glass? Broken, stained, wine, reflective, etc. Might have been done before - haven't checked.

Please, no! I'm tired of buying props for photos that I'll never use again.

I'm going to be tarred and feathered if this really shows up as a challenge next week.

OMG... If they do wine glasses as a challenge, I will do a picture of me whining behind glass.

Anytime someone tells me to quit whining, I remember the end of "Interview With a Vampire" when Tom Cruise is listening to the tape of Brad Pitt (Louie) talking, and he says, "Louie, Louie, Louie, still whiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnning."

sorry, just thought I would share.

Actually, the vampires in question are French and Creole, so LeStat is saying "Louis, Louis, Louis".... although my name is pronounced with the "S" at the end.

Hmmm Steve, why make the suggestion then? I mean it seems you (and others) are going to find it tedious and hurtful to your eyes while voting on this so why bother even bringing it up?

It's like Louis suggesting a water drop challenge and then saying he's going to vote them down, just because they're water drops.

Practically every entry here has been done before, lets find something else to shoot. How about aliens. Because honestly, photography isnt about talent and skill, its about what you shoot, right?

Frankly, if I need a special subject to make my pictures look good, I need to get into the books and figure out what I'm doing wrong.

It was kind of meant as a semi-joke after the idea came up in a PM discussion. and I didn't say I voted such shots down. Voting a 6 or a 7 on a well done shot is not exactly a troll vote.

My name is Louis as well... The dig was at myself (just didn't want any animosity). Everyone on this site seems good natured, I don't want to introduce a negative vibe.
