He disagreed, I rattled his cage a bit, then SUPERZXAAR flew in with his tights and underpants on and defended Planet DPC once more from the clutches and superiority of the Evil SIMMS!!!

Shame on you comment? - completely justified - I was actually attacking the superiority of Snaffles and her ill chosen comments about fast food jobs.

I am sure Ray is big enough to look after himself.

However I certainly seem to have a knack of rattling your cage without actually trying.

At the end of the day, I know I wont win any popularity contests on DPC.

I'm with you...I probably would have fallen out of my chair laughing....and yes I would have still found it funny if I had been away from family for a long time.....been there done that

Excuse me? Banned for DPC for wondering if either of these people would be able to get a job better than fast food after quitting their jobs in the way that they did? That's a legitimate question. Maybe you're not out in the work force yet, or have never been between jobs, but when another employer considers hiring you - one of the things they do is check your references - which includes previous employers. Neither of these people would have a good work reference after this. In this economy that would make them virtually unemployable.

First of all, thanks Arjun and Mark in your respective PMs for clearing things up.

And I am adult enough to apologize for the rant I made last night. Sorry, DPC, that you got to see me in such a bad mood.

I doubt many would blame me, though, seeing that I felt I was being effectively pilloried NOW for a comment I made 2 weeks ago, which I do not recount as anyone else having a problem with at the time. And in the meantime, a similar comment made on this current thread was the touchpaper for my rant because it appeared that that comment was the one Arjun and Mark were going off about

And furthermore I have worked in the fast food industry. It is not much fun. However, landing that job helped me
pay the bills and yes, escape working for a semi-psychotic boss at the time in my field of choice. Even in that *other* post, I NEVER said anything bad about fast food workers or the industry. I made that comment more as a statement of fact, not a criticism of the fast food industry.

Finally, fwiw, I have held jobs even *lower* in status than doing fast food. I've mucked out horses and cows for a living, in all weather, and all kinds of work conditions. And I still muck stalls, it's all part of the industry I chose to be a part of.

ETA: Just looked at the supposedly incredibly offensive post I made in the burger-flipping thread...holy hand grenade!! OK, I suppose now I have to apologize for the remark I made on that thread too, because apparently others did take offense to it. And read in the wrong light, yes, it can be miscontrued as offensive.

Though again fwiw...yes, fast food can be a dangerous workplace...well, try working with livestock sometime. Cows and horses can kill you without even trying. I've nearly been killed a half-dozen times over my 30+ years in that business. God help you if one decides to actually gun for you. The work conditions suck, and the pay sucks even more, at least til you prove you are worth paying $40/hr. And not to muck stalls.

Simms....please keep your battles to yourselves!!! And if you must drag other people into your fights, at least clearly explain why or send a pm explaining your actions. To just randomly toss in someone's name from a vaguely relevant post 2 weeks ago is completely ridiculous.

A job is a job, and fast food is an honest living. But, there are very few people - especially people who went to college to become a broker (again hoax, I know) who get up and say, "Oh boy! I want to work fast food!" My daughter-in-law is a manager at a fast food chain and makes more money than I do, but she would be the first to tell you that unless you work your way up into management that it is a crap job with crap wages.

...and the sad truth is that some people truly expect that their university papers should automatically entitle them to managerial positions, regardless of the fact that they have not one iota of experience.

Fast food outlets... compared to working on the operating end of a hose on a septic truck... piece of cake. :O)

i am dumb enough not to get the question. :-D

But if the question is that who is going to quit job. I have been contemplating it for few months.

Its not that i hate my job, i love it very much. It pays good too.

But i am going to upload an engineering software as open source project. And been thinking of giving up job and work on my own start up.

Don't have guts to give up on job though.
(at least not at the moment of speaking).
